Yes, they do. Any individual is a representation of any "team" they are a part of. And when they act a fool, it comes back to the entire organization. There's no need to perpetuate it. It's already established. Does CHad Johnson make the Bengals look bad? Hell yeah, he does. Did John Rocker make the Braves look bad? Hell yeah, he did. Did Joey Porter look like an idiot and give the Steelers a black eye every time he opened his dipshit mouth in the locker room? Absolutely. How about T.O.? He reflect the Cowboys perception? Yep.
