Losing in the first round sucks, getting upset in the first round sucks even more. But while we prepare to try to run the gauntlet of Eastern also-rans, I figured this would be a good thread for us losers to take an unbiased look at what the rest of the playoffs look like.
Next Round:
West
Kansas City Rams vs. Alberta Assassins
The Rams are officially the flavor of the week in Canada Eh 3 after a decisive victory over a very strong Polar Bear team. It's one thing to boost a few last players going into the playoffs, I think every team did that. But Kansas City pretty much boosted as a whole, taking what was already a very good team, and making them elite. Don't write off Alberta, they're on a nine game winning streak right now and have a ton of heart. But they haven't encountered a team at the caliber of KC yet. Rams 23 Assassins 14
Gators at Knights
The two teams who defeated us this year and what I will deem Game of the Week. The Gators were the most underrated game in the first round, and, now that they've made their name at the expense of the Maulers, the Knights are the most underrated team in the second. They sport one of the best QB's in the Eh#3 and a formidable defense. But this will be a defensive game from the get-go and Ottowa has recently proven a little more proficient at moving the ball. Prediction: The Gators edge at K winds up being the difference in this game. Gators 10 Knights 7
The East
Marauders at Sundowners
Everybody has been anticipating a Sundowners/Vikings showdown from the outset, and I do too, but that's not a guarantee, the Marauders and the Cherry Pies ain' nuttin to fuck wit'. But I think the Marauder's defense is a bit outmatched, and the Sundowners are going to be thanking their lucky stars for Harrelson as he will be able to squeeze some points out from what would be stalled drives for any other team. Sundowners 26 Marauders 17
Cherry Pies at Vikings
This is going to be a much closer game than people think. The Vikings handed the Cherry Pies their only loss of the season, and in a pretty decisive fashion, just a couple of weeks ago. But, GLB "scouting" aside, the Cherry Pies have one of the most formidable defenses left, and if they learned any lessons from their last matchup, they can make it very difficult for the Vikings to move the ball. However, I'm kind of at a loss to figure out how they'll manage to score. Vikings 13 Cherry Pies 3
Now let's see how wrong I am.
What the rest of you losers think?
