I don't have a mathematical system of figuring these, it is opinion based. Just scouting rosters, previous games, and preference.
Feel free to discuss/criticize these predictions.
Also, try to write your own!

1 Port Moody vs 8 Listowel
Looks like Listowel was hiding some boosts if they could only put together a 5-3 record for 8th place. I'm a huge believer in defense wins championships, so Listowel has a great chance to put together a big win. Port Moody's kicker doesn't compare to the Huskies. This is the most interesting matchup of the opening round here, but I think it all comes down to gameplan, chemistry, and home field advantage. Port moody defends their seed (10-9).

4 Saskatchewan vs 5 Tradewest
Battletoads are known for their aerial attack, but the Wolf Pack have a solid defensive backfield with plenty of depth. While Tradewest may have chemistry issues, Saskatchewan's O-Line will not be able to hold ground against the batteltoad D-Line. Tradewest moves on (34-13).

2 Laval vs 7 Montreal
Laval is undefeated for one reason: defense, defense, defense. This team has only allowed 22 points, and 114 rushing yards in 8 games. While they don't have much depth, their starters are the best in the West. Lucky for Montreal, their passing game has been warming up all season. However, Laval will continue their unbeaten streak (40-0).

3 Vancouver vs 6 Quebec City
Vancouver only has one loss all season, when their offense was shut out by Laval, but Quebec City's defense has a few weak spots that Vancouver could take advantage of. However, the Dirtbag O-Line will Crush their opponents and pull off the upset (9-17).

1 Lancaster vs 8 Niagara
Niagara's defense is deceptively deep, but Lancaster has the #1 offense in the conference. Even though said offense is saturated with inactives, the chemistry and home field advantage will make a difference in this game. Lancaster goes to the second round in a shootout (44-29).

4 Hamilton vs 5 Quebec
IMO Quebec has the #1 HB in the East, but Hamilton's only loss is to the undefeated Hustlas. Quebec did a great job recovering from their Kingston days, and pulled in many top recruits. Hamilton lacks superstars, but has solid depth from top to bottom, and has gameplanned very well all season. I don't think their defense will be enough to stop the multi-attack of the Quasars though. Eastern upset (24-38).

2 Puvirnituq vs 7 Nova Scotia
I'm partial to this game, so I won't do a writeup. You all know who I would choose anyway.

3 Notre Dame vs 6 Sudbury
I looked at many of ND's players during the recruiting phase, this team is filled with solid builds and has a 5 game win streak. Sudbury pulled a low seed after losing 3 in a row to teams with a combined 22-2 record. ND has several of the highest rated players in the league on the O-line and defensive backfield, and they know how to use them. The Mountain Lions defense will not be able to handle the Irish. Tough end of a season for Sudbury, because ND wins (55-6)

Ouch Quebec pulls the upset? They definately have the potential, but Vancouvers got some tricks up its sleeve

Just realized, the only two upsets I called were by Quebec in the East and Quebec City in the West, was non-intentional. Vancouver isn't 7-1 by luck, this I'm sure. Why Quebec is a #6 seed, I'm not sure. They look really good on paper, you'll need some tricks tomorrow.

Quebec all the way.

Saskatchewan getting killed?
I don't think our D is going to give up anywhere near 34 points! Only gave up 6 to Laval...

Not bad. I'll pick the Puvirnituq game for you

Puvirnituq has a slight advantage in levels (not going through all the builds). The two teams played 4 of the same teams, Puvirnituq went 4-0 in those games and Nova Scotia went 2-2. Nova Scotia is good enough defensively to stay within a score or two for most of the game, but won't have the offensive firepower to overcome Puvirnituq's stifling D.

Puvirnituq - 24
Nova Scotia - 6

Or our stifling O-Line!

Pancakes!

Edit: I like the prediction by the way.

Very good post Strom. You did not just put a score down but wrote down a little behind it and reasoning. You can tell you did some checking of information. Does not mean I agree with all of your predictions but I do like the effort.

Okay, maybe I'm just channeling Lou Holtz here, but I'm kinda afraid of Sudbury, actually. We only beat them 23-14 when we played them on opening day, and they held their own against one of the toughest schedules in the league: they had to play us, Lancaster, Hamilton and Vancouver, and those were the only games they lost, and they never got embarrassed in any of them.

We will not win this one 55-6.

I'm not going to guarantee a win.

Hell, I'm not even comfortable saying I THINK we'll win. Sudbury is fully capable of spoiling our party.

I agree...I think they do a very good job of game planning. This game will be closer than 55-6 win or lose for the Irish.
