Alpha take on Zeta for conference bragging rights - who has the edge?

Knossos Minotaurs vs Wales Whales
Meaningful clash for two top tier teams - Knossos want to secure homefield, Wales are playing for Zeta pride.
Prediction: Knosso 21-17

Montcuq Beserker Trolls vs Spaniard Quebrantaguesos
Another huge clash between top tier teams, as arguably the best team in Zeta take on the offensive powerhouse that is the Trolls.
Prediction: Montcuq 27-21

Vice City Crack Whores vs Hjorring Rhinos
with the #1 seed wrapped up, will Vice City take it easy on one of Zeta's cellar dwellars? Not likely!
Prediction: Vice City 38-3

Yorkshire Knights vs St Michael Blicas
Yet another game in which the Blicas enter as underdogs, Yorkshire should favour this matchup with nothing to play for - even if Dorset and Black Watch lose, unless they score 100+ points more than Dorset, they cannot increase their seeding.
Prediction: Yorkshire 27-3

Seville Naranjas vs Glasgow Manglers
Another top Alpha team takes on a lowly ranked Zeta team who have shown that they do have fighting spirit the last few games. Don't expect an upset, but its not impossible.
Prediction: Seville 44-3

Dorset Stampede vs Antwerp Jokers
With Dorset all but guaranteed at least the #6 seeding, Antwerp visit the Alpha team needing a victory and a Lyon loss to progress further. Dorset are buoyant after a win over Knossos last game, can Antwerp laugh past Dorset to the playoffs?
Prediction: Dorset 17-14

Black Watch vs Turin Blue Jays
The Turin Blue Jays seem doomed to relegation as Black Watch meet them in the final regular season game. Expect stud HB Tony Dorsett to rack up some serious yardage, and secure his top 3 spot in rushing yards.
Prediction: Black Watch 55-3

Fareham Demons vs Yorkshire Rippers
This should be a good game, as Alpha's #8 meet Zeta's #7 - possibly an acid test of depth of quality in each conference. Expect this to be a close game, with the turnover battle deciding the victor.
Prediction: 20-13 Yorkshire

Hamburg Likedeeler vs Berlin Thunder
With both team out of the playoffs, the teams play for conference bragging rights. Hamburg are a tough cookie, but the Thunder are not a team that just rolls over.
Prediction: Berlin 24-17

Rennes Corsairs vs Copenhagen Armadillos
The Armadillos meet an Alpha team that narrowly missed the playoffs, and took Montcuq to the brink last game. Rennes look to be a step ahead of Copenhagen, and are favourites to take this game for Alpha.
Prediction: Rennes 27-12

Barcelona Razorbacks vs Munchen The Fearless Lion
Munchen have been contenders on a consistent basis for Zeta, and meet a Razorbacks side oozing unfulfilled potential. Unfortunately, this comes too late for Barca to discover form.
Prediction: Munchen 30-9

Messina Blazers vs FF-FD Satellite
The Satellites need to win to avoid relegation and face a Messina side that could have caused an upset against Yorkshire last game. The Blazers want to end the season with a victory, and that should be within their grasp here.
Prediction: Messina 21-13

London Royal vs Bergen Black Bears
The Black Bears look to go on a rampage here, meeting an Alpha team that has been struggling like a wounded animal for the bulk of the season. The Royals are however, coming off a rare victory, and will hope that they can pull off the huge upset.
Prediction: Bergen 41-9

Vatican City Popes vs Lyon Loups *LFU*
The Wolves (?) of Lyon are stalking the Popes, and the Loups need the win to guarantee the playoffs.
Prediction: Lyon 59-3

Dublin Destroyers vs Bath Killer Bees
Someone better have an adrenaline shot on standby, because the Destroyers are about to get stung
Prediction: Bath 52-7

Flying Monkeeh Armarda vs Stirling Crusaders
'Judy' needs a win to avoid relegation, and go to Scotland to face a Stirling team on a mission. Expect the Flying Monkeeh's to turn up, but an upset here is less likely than Elvis turning up alive and well living in the Florida Keys.
Prediction: Stirling 76-3

Alpha: 9
Zeta: 7

The floor is now open to debate!

Ooops - got those 2 fixtures mixed around - amateur mistake!

Fixed now.

Well lets see... you have alpha winning on 3 games by less than a TD...

Alpha winning 6 more where they all outrank their competition by at least a few places, the closest being 3 places (12th to 15th).

And every game that you have Zeta winning on is by at least a TD, and there are 7 of them.

I'm not saying Zeta is better, I'm more saying that... only the 3 close games are really going to be helpful in determining that, if the other 13 games go as predicted.

Zeta to be collectively crushed. As called days ago.

Well, it's mostly up to the Wales and the Spaniards to stick it out for Zeta. And the jokers too, to a slightly lesser extent.

The only 3 close games... if, other than those, alpha gets a good number of upsets, then I might concede that alpha is better

We'll see what the tally is tomorrow... in 13 hours.

Does your team take every prediction as disrespect? Rack it up then - use it as motivation and prove me wrong - it's just fun predictions!

To get a true comparison between divisions, we shouldbe matched up by placing. i.e #1 vs #1....etc

Our 1 is better then your 1
Our 2 is definitely better then your 2

We'll see - personally i think the Stampede's secondary would handle your WRs.

It would be an interesting matchup -

Vice City vs Spaniard
Seville vs Stirling
Knossos vs Bath
Montcuq vs Wales
Black Watch vs Bergen
Dorset vs Munchen
Yorkshire vs Yorkshire
Fareham vs Lyon
Rennes vs Antwerp
Hamburg vs Berlin
Barcelona vs St Michael
Messina vs Copenhagen
Royals vs Manglers
Destroyers vs Rhinos
FMA vs FF-FD
VCP vs Turin

Looking at it like that, I think Alpha would have the bulk of victories, IMHO.

in the interest of a competition, some kind of point system could be set up with more points being awarded for beating a higher seeded team. i.e. defeating a one seed would earn 16 points, a 2 seed 15 and so on all the way down. The conference with the most points would be the winner.

of course a system like that would place more emphasis on the better seeds and their games, and not necessarily the right amount of emphasis on a game b/n two closely seeded teams like fareham v yorkshire. might be interesting though...any other ideas?

We are already stuck in the 4 seed because we got it handed to us by the Killer Bees last week. Sorry for being picky.

Also, this week should be a fun one. Good luck to the Minotaurs and everyone else!
