This is a discussion thread, just really excited about these games, so had to get some talk started.

With 3 teams in Alpha with a shot at the 8th playoff seed, and 5 teams in Zeta fighting for the 7th and 8th seed, this weeks inter-conference games are going to be VERY interesting.

*-* How does this all match up? *-*

-Alpha

8. Grim Reapers (7-8)
They have a win over both Wrexham and St Louis, but are facing an even matchup vs Newcastle this next week (see below)

9. Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn (7-8)
They have a win over St Louis and a loss to Grim, they will HAVE to beat the 3rd ranked Amsterdam Smugglers if they even want to make the playoffs

10. St. Louis Storm (7-8)
Suffering from a loss to both Grim and Wrexham, the only way these guys get in is if they not only win the inter-conference game, but both Grim and Wrexham have to lose... Luckily for them they are facing Zeta's cupcakes, the Chanhatten Knights, and are actually my pick to make it into the playoffs in Alpha.

-Zeta

7. Vatican City Angels (7-8)
2-2 against the teams behind them, facing off against the 1st seeded Transylvania next week, win or lose (pretty guaranteed a loss), these guys have a slight chance at holding their playoff spot

8. Cardiff Cobra's (7-8)
Loss to Vatican, 2-1 against the teams behind, these guys are slotted to play one of Alpha's easier teams, London, and should they win (I predict an upset!!! muahaha), they will definitely make the playoffs.

9. Vienna Blood Sausages (7-8)
1-1 against teams above it, 0-2 against teams below it. They are playing Alpha's 3rd seeded Warsaw this next week, IF they manage an upset there, they still may miss the playoffs.

10. Newcastle Nightmare (7-8)
These guys have beaten the team below them and are 1-2 against the 3 above them. They have a huge game this week against an evenly matched Grim, and I really think that they will pull off the win and find themselves in the playoffs.

11. Malmö Dawgs (7-8), These poor guys are going to come so close! They beat both Vatican and Vienna during the regular season, but unfortunately, lost to Newcastle and Cardiff which is going to result in them requiring both teams to lose if these guys want a shot. Their eyes will be on the Grim-Newcastle game, as they soundlessly pound the Outlaws for a win.

*--How will it end up?--*

-Alpha

8. St Louis Storm (8-8)
Pull off an easy win against the Knights and slide into 8th.

9. Grim Reapers (7-9)
Lose in a not as close as we would have hoped game to Newcastle, and end up falling short of the playoffs.

10. Wrexham Maelor Brionnfhionn (7-9)
Amsterdam shows them why they are ranked 3 in Zeta, and control the game, despite Wrexham putting up a pretty good fight.

-Zeta

7. Cardiff Cobras (8-8)
London came out with the gloves off, but Cardiff managed a close win. London will be back next year with a vengeance I tell you, a vengeance!!!

8. Newcastle Nightmare (8-8)
Newcastle hits Grim where it hurts and claims their spot in the playoffs

9. Malmö Dawgs (8-8)
They pull off a win against the Outlaws, but fall short of a playoff spot, I think we will see them in a similar spot next year.

10. Vienna Blood Sausages (7-9)
Warsaw shows them why they are 3rd in Alpha, these guys lose by 2 scores

11. Vatican City Angels (7-9)
The Vatican obviously forgot to pray for a good inter-conference pick at the beginning of the season, and end up cursing the randomness of the game as they fall from heaven to 11th in their conference.

***Game to watch!!***

-Grim vs Newcastle
This game could change so much about who makes it and who doesn't. The simple fact is, whoever wins makes the playoffs, and whoever loses has to wait till next year. Grim has been in a slide since mid-season, whereas Newcastle has been pulling tight games against tough competition. I predict Newcastle will pull a large margin win over Grim, but who knows, Grim might see how important this game is and step it up.

also keep your eyes on the London game, cause we are planning on making Cardiff work if they want to be in the playoffs =)

Hmmm.... I'm not positive how the tie breakers work, but does Kilkenny (6-9) have any shot at the 8th seed if we win and the 3 Alpha teams lose? We would all be tied at 7-9 but if it goes straight to Points Scored then I know we won't make it.

lets figure that out, I think I did at some point, but can't remember now.

----------Grim---Wrexham---St Louis---Kilkenny
Grim-------X--------W---------W---------L-----
Wrexham----L--------X---------W---------W-----
St Louis---L--------L---------X---------W-----
Kilkenny---W--------L---------L---------X-----

I think since each team has beaten one of the others it might switch to points scored, but I really dunno... But St Loius is still playing cupcakes, so yah, I think you're screwed.

Thats too bad. We had a tough start to the season and I am very surprised to see us close to a spot after 3 straight wins.

Ever since the Grim win people have started to take notice of Kilkenny and might I saw that's another reason one of their players garnered a spot on the All Star team.

Thanks. Good luck to the Suckers in the playoffs! As much as I want you guys to win, it's a shame that you could be leaving the league next season

It's gonna depend on how the tiebreakers work as well determining these things for Zeta.

In a multi-team tie the tie breaker is points scored. The question is when going for two spots if the first tie-breaker gives it to one team, then does it go to head to head for the second?

I think I linked in another post, but 3 way (if each team has beaten each other) is just straight up points scored. I there is a 3 way tie, adn 1 team has beaten the other 2, then that team is rightfully on top, and head to head applies to the other 2.. so on so forth... but with 4 teams+ that gets way too confusing for me.

*edit- link to a 3 way tie. http://goallineblitz.com/game/league.pl?league_id=64&conference_id=127&playoffs=0
if you look at each team you will see that the 1st place team has beaten the 3rd, the 3rd has beaten the 2nd, and the 2nd has beaten the 1st... this is the only time it moves to points scored as a tie breaker.

Thanks bro. It's been a fun year and every team in the playoffs is a solid team so there's not much that would surprise me.

What decides when people go up?
Is it the overall record, or is the Winner of it all going up?
Either Way, im going to miss whoever it is

the 2 conference winners will move up. 4 teams from AA will come down 2 to WEA 7 and 2 to WEA 8.

I'm not positive, but unless things have changed I believe the 2 teams that make each conference championship get promoted, with the bottom 2 teams in each conference being demoted.

So whoever wins up to AA #4?

Thats interesting.. I was wondering about that..

Well that sucks! I have been thinking about that a lot lately.

Also I didn't know that the two conference champs get promoted! That's terrible! I want another shot at Transylvania! lol

LOL, thanks for the confidence but looking at the Alpha playoffs it's gonna be a minefield for all 8 teams. There's not a gimme game for anyone in that entire thing. Good luck to all teams!
