its a big part of football to trash talk your opponent goes on in every football league there is so why does everyone get so angry and hateful towards anyone that does it? as soon as someone says something good about their player the league jumps all over them and shit gets personal and outta hand. just dont get why you cant gloat then when u get beat you shut up just like all the elves have done (except voltron) if you keep up your performance then i dont see why you shuldnt be able to keep talkin until someone proves you wrong. IMHO

Honestly, I don't see a problem with talking some trash if it's good trash talk. The same ole, "I GOT TOUCHDOWN/INTERCEPTION/SACK I ARE THE BESTEST EVAR!" verges on retarded. Make it original and snappy if you're going to do it.
Also, it's pretty stupid to brag about your accomplishments in this game. When a player can get 60 pancakes or 400 rushing/receiving or 900 passing yards in a single game, accomplishments don't really mean as much as they might if there was parity.

There is trash talking towards specific opponents before games and there is just random boasting towards the whole league. I'm quite ok with the former, but can't stand the latter.
I will say that if there's one thing that I hate more than boasting, it's punctuation.

There are things called context, tone, attitude, respectfulness, playfulness, seriousness, sportsmanship, etc. that have to be taken into account.
I'm pretty sure I said my SS was the best at some point - but he's clearly not and I wasn't being derogatory to anyone, so nobody got upset.
Conversely, when I say my SS is the best LOOKING of all the safeties in the league, everyone knows it's true and they don't bother to argue.
You see, what certain people don't get about smack talk (and that gets them in trouble) is there are certain claims that can and can't reasonably be made - and certain ways in which you can make them.
When somebody takes a reasonably good player and declares him to be the best, people will try to disprove it. The claimant should be prepared for this.
If that claimant also tries to declare his player invincible, or guarantees a certain performance, people will try to make a liar of him by dominating him in-game.
It's often not the original claim but the person's response to comments on that claim - suggestions of jealousy, imbecilism, and homoerotic behaviors are generally unwelcome. Likewise, foul language should be used in moderation and with care taken to make sure it's in the proper context.
Now let's all split into groups and role-play out some situations that can happen when competitors may talk smack to each other.

Valid point. But if you are going to gloat, you should be ready for people to poke holes in that gloating. Believe me that's just as much a part of football as the gloating in the first place.
Valid point #2, I really don't understand why it turns into attacks or personal crap. As many have stated you're bragging about your dot or your team of dots, it does say something about the person, but you're mainly just talking about the dot or the team of dots, not about yourself.

I'm the best damn dancing WR in the league ... I just don't get in the endzone enough for everyone to see it. And I blame that on Miss Daisy's fat ass bouncing in front of me every night at the strip club. I'm hot for teacher.

Everyone can take smack talk and I don't care about it but the person who started has to expect people to argue back. Its all good and fun until someone gets personal. I'm guessing your talking about Sabar in this case so I will use him. The problem with his smack talking is he didn't want to hear people argue back. Instead of not responding to, or even just coming back with facts about his player to the guys who argued back on his claims that he is the best CB in this league, he called them fuck faces and a bunch of different stuff that started the personal attacks. It neccessarily wasn't us who won't accept the smack talk as much as him who wouldn't accept us arguing back.
