Nestled along The North African coast lays the city of Casablanca. This metropolitan and cosmopolitan, industrial city with its rich history has been invaded many times over from the Almoravids to the Spanish to the French.

And now a new invader, The Gunslingers of Texas, have arrived on these shores to stake claim to this jewel of Africa. These men of adventure, born in the fires of some old American Western, have taken “manifest destiny” one step further with their near completed conquest of Africa. From The Atlantic to The Indian Ocean, these pistol-whippin cowboys of the gridiron have carved out an empire of big plays all year long.

Only one team stands in the way—The Golden Eagles.

These roughshod Eagles believe that they have a stake in this destiny as well. In past gunfights they have out dueled the Nightmares, cursed the Mummies, and staked their own claim to the Dunes of Algeria. And they’re not about to be run out of town by any Texas Rangers without a fight.

Back at the hotel, we talked to some of the coaches and the players from The Gunslingers.

“The Golden Eagles are a great team. We know their defense is gonna come out fired up, and put pressure on me from all sides,” Gunfighter’s quarterback Marc Brady told reporters Monday. “This is the game we’ve been training for all season.”

“You know what, I’m just excited to get to compete. The Eagles got a hell of a defense, but you know what? I’m a hell of a fullback!” said Gunfighter’s fullback Harry Carey with a beaming smile.

“When I get nervous I need my inhaler, so don’t remind me that I’m gonna have eleven angry Golden Eagles barreling down the field at my on kickoff,” cornerback Freddy McFarkleberry said in a high pitched nasal voice.

“I’m ready to lay the hat. That’s what I do, ya know? One of them Eagles tries to fly up in my space, he’s gonna get rocked. Lockdown baby!” free safety Jack Coffey exclaimed during practice Monday.

“Whatever happens out there, it's ok man. Were all here together, playing this great game together man, and that’s all that matters. Wars not the answer. They got great people, we got great people, in the end we’re all just people playing the game of life” said kicker Red Headed Stranger. When asked how he remains so calm under pressure, Red Headed Stranger replied, “its about the sky, the earth, and of course, the grass.”

Head coach Austin Jones made this statement about the game. “We are going to play our best, my guys have been training hard all season. Every day in practice these guys are busting their butts. Just being out their at practice you can feel the excitement and energy in the air. We’ve got all the respect in the world for Big Nasty, and the rest of his staff. They have a great program over there. Their boys are hard nosed well disciplined players, and despite our great season so far, it’s going to take everything we have to beat those guys, but I think we’re ready.”

Over on the other end of town, we caught up with defensive coordinator, Whteshark, after practice and asked him how he planned to stop the dreaded, Gunslinger offense.

Laughing, he said, “There is no stopping that offense. We just hope to contain them long enough for our offense to score more points than their offense. I got Hammer running wind sprints with wildebeest across the Serengeti in preparation for this game. Unfortunately, it's mating season so that's been tough. And yesterday, he was chased by a lion and was a little upset with me. I told him, hey, don't take it out on me, take it out on The Gunslingers. ”

Bootyslayer4 called this “the game of year,” while jackiego believes this will be a “preview to The Elephant conference finals.”

The most interesting song and dance came from starting RT, Joe Don Barrie, who made these comments in the locker room:

“Of all the saloons in all the world, they had to walk into Nasty's. Play it Sparxs, you know the one.

(in the background:
"Oh that Shark, yeah, has such speed, yeah
When he runs it to the right
He will truck thru, those DBs, yeah
'Cause the D line's, locked up tight.

When that Bonesaw's, Quman Foryu,
And Iberunnin's, in full flight,
That's when Shark, yeah, gets a rest, yeah,
And in comes Joe McKnight.

to the tune of Mack The Knife)”

Wednesday. July 9. Doesn't matter what time the sim goes off; this game will be played at High Noon.

Special thanks to Terseus, austin.jones, and the rest of The Eagle and Gunslinger players that contributed to this.
