Personally, I think Portland's Brien Orakpo is the obvious choice here. He is highly ranked in sacks and hurries, and the difference between him and most other Ends is that his stats come against some of the best offensive lines in his conference.

Orakpo is a beast, against Dallas he opened the game with 3 straight sacks. He gets my vote.

Thanks for the warning. Although we are aware of him and scared as well.
We were scared of Huckleberry Hound of Silverymoon and we were able to contain him. Let's hope we can pull that off Against Orakpo too. It's going to be tough.

There's been a couple of DE's this year that have concluded games against us with like 3 or 4 sacks on the final few plays. Huckleberry Hound did it today. If you could get votes for putting up big numbers against an outmatched team late in the fourth quarter, he'd get my vote.

Orakpo is by far the best DE in this league.
When else are you ever going to see a DE start the game with three straight sacks to 3 and out the other team?

Not knowing the guy or his team by name, I just want to ask those who know better:
How much of that is him, and how much is his team/coaching/opponent? Obviously he must be talented, but one must account for circumstances.

Well that's just it - it is debatable. Or it should be. I haven't even looked at all the DEs, and sadly there's no good way to line them all up and scientifically pick the best. But I generally think that stats don't tell the whole story.
For instance - Orakpo and Red King are the same level. Orakpo's stats blow Red out of the water. But Orakpo's on a defense that is ~ 4 levels higher than Red's teammates at every position.

Thor is very glad he doesn't ever have to face Orakpo except on the practice field, where he only tries at 10%.
