Here’s to a FUN season for everyone.
Welcome to the new owners, remember, it’s about having fun, at least for me.
Running an oddball roster this season, doing some experimenting.
Good luck, and enjoy the season!!

Now, now, they do have fun.
It’s their prerogative to build No/No teams if they choose.
I agreed to go along for several seasons, but decided this season to build my team however I chose, and wasn’t gonna commit to either boosting or not boosting. Same with the equipment……either I would or I wouldn’t.
Believe it or not, winning Silver or Gold isn’t my goal, ever.
I set goals for players and try to achieve them.
This season, I am shooting for both QB’s to have 2500 yards passing and 1000 yards rushing. Each.
Want one 1000 yard WR.
Want one RB with 1500-2000 yards rushing.
Team goal: Less than 10 sacks for the season.

That’s what I shoot for.

Yeah like I want to win but have fun. When I was losing instead of going 0fer I sold my team. They didn’t like that lol. My bad but wasn’t having fun.

Congrats on the tourney win over the Yaks.
They're always a tough team, and Argo seems to have them in fine shape this season.

Since you don't know how you won....

🎙️ PeeWee SilverCenter with C Berman
Scranton Stranglers 31, Rome Gladiator Yaks 21
Live from Elm Street Stadium

"I'm C Berman. We head to Elm Street Stadium, home of the Scranton Stranglers. Folks, if that name sounds familiar, visiting teams tend to have nightmares here. The Rome Gladiator Yaks came to town looking to escape. The Stranglers had other ideas. Let's go to the tape!"

1st Quarter
The Stranglers Draw First Blood

The Yaks started with the football but couldn't get anything going.

Two passes batted away.

Fourth down.

Turnover on downs.

"That's a quick way to lose the neighborhood, folks."

The Stranglers immediately took advantage.

Preston "The Great Whaley Caper" Whaley orchestrated a patient drive, finding Ridge Jolly, Galen Magee, and Irvin Vogt while the running game methodically chewed up yardage.

Before long, Scranton had Rome backed up at the goal line.

Corona.

Pool.

Corona.

Pool.

The Yaks kept standing up.

But finally...

☀️ Lazaro "Sun King" Corona crossed the stripe.

Touchdown.

Scranton 7, Rome 0.

"Not pretty. Not glamorous. But six points are six points."

The Yak Stampede Arrives and Rome answered immediately.

A couple first downs.

A little rhythm.

Then QB2 pitches to HB3.

A seam opens.

Then it gets wider.

Then everybody's chasing shadows.

🦬 "The Yakety Yak Express" is gone for 49 yards.

"WHOOP!"

"He. Could. Go. All. The. Way!"

Touchdown Rome.

7-7.

2nd Quarter
Scranton Takes Control

This time the Stranglers turned to the passing attack.

Whaley and Gunnar Burton spread the ball around.

Ridge Jolly moved the chains.

Tyler Amaya contributed.

Harold Todd got involved.

The drive marched deep into Yak territory.

Then Burton found:

🗽 Miles "New York, New York" York for the touchdown. "Start spreadin' the news..."

Scranton 14, Rome 7.

Rome's Best Drive of the Afternoon

The Yaks needed a response.

They got one from QB3.

Or as I call him:

🏃 "The Rome Roamer"

The defense expected a pass.

He expected daylight.

Off he went.

Thirty and a half yards.

The biggest Rome offensive play since the touchdown run.

"The Roamer was roaming!"

The drive reached the doorstep.

Then came:

🚂 "The Fullback Freight Train"

One yard.

One plunge.

One touchdown.

14-14.

Sack Lunch Served at Elm Street

Late in the half, Rome's defense started making noise.

SS1 came flying in.

BOOM!

Sack.

Next drive?

SS2 said:

"Save me some quarterback."

BOOM!

Another sack.

Back-to-back drive killers.

The Stranglers suddenly looked vulnerable.

But before halftime they squeezed out one more score.

Mickey Hines Delivers

With just one second left before intermission:

Mickey Hines lines up.

30 yards.

Straight through.

Field goal.

Scranton 17, Rome 14.

Halftime

"T Jackson, what do you see?"

T: "Chris, Scranton's controlling possessions while Rome is surviving on big plays."

C. Berman: "That's exactly right, Tommy. One team's eating vegetables. The other team's drinking espresso."

3rd Quarter
Welcome to the Defensive Convention

Neither offense could get comfortable.

Punts.

Turnovers on downs.

Deflections.

More turnovers on downs.

The defenses started acting like they owned the football.

Rome repeatedly crossed midfield and stalled.

Scranton couldn't quite land the knockout punch.

Until...

The Play of the Game

Scranton takes over with great field position.

Burton pitches left.

The ball lands in the hands of:

💰 Jesse "Felonious" Feliciano

One missed tackle.

Two missed tackles.

A safety misses.

Now he's running free down Elm Street.

"RUMBLIN'!"

"STUMBLIN'!"

"BUMBLIN'!"

"THE FELONIOUS ONE HAS BROKEN OUT OF JAIL!"

Touchdown.

34.5 yards.

Scranton 24, Rome 14.

At Elm Street Stadium, the nightmares were beginning for the visitors.

4th Quarter
The Yaks Refuse to Go Away

Down ten entering the fourth.

Rome answered.

The Roamer contributed again.

TE3 and TE4 became chain-moving machines.

The Yaks slowly marched down the field.

Then QB2 saw WR3.

Fired.

Strike.

Touchdown.

Scranton 24, Rome 21.

"Folks, we've got ourselves a football game!"

The Sun King Rises Again

But the Stranglers had an answer.

And more importantly, they had clock control.

Pool.

Corona.

Pool.

Corona.

The offensive line leaned on Rome's defense like movers carrying a piano.

The drive consumed yards.

Consumed time.

Consumed hope.

Finally, from the 3½-yard line:

☀️ Lazaro "Sun King" Corona again.

Touchdown.

His second score of the day.

Scranton 31, Rome 21.

"At Elm Street Stadium, that's the kind of drive that gives opponents nightmares."

One Last Yak Charge

Rome wasn't done.

Not even close.

The Yaks started throwing.

WR5.

WR4.

TE4.

More completions.

More urgency.

Then a huge fourth-down conversion to WR7.

The crowd at Elm Street Stadium got awfully quiet.

Rome reached the five-yard line.

The comeback was alive.

Points were sitting right there.

The Non Dramatic Dramatic Finish

Seven seconds remaining.

Timeout Rome.

The Yaks line up for a 22-yard field goal.

The kind kickers usually make while checking the weather.

Snap.

Hold.

Kick.

UH-OH.

WHOOOOP!

NO GOOD!

"The football gods have spoken!"

The stadium erupts.

Another visitor leaves Elm Street frustrated.

Another visitor leaves Elm Street with a bad dream.

"Corona scored twice. Feliciano delivered the jailbreak touchdown. Mickey Hines nailed a huge field goal before halftime. And when Rome lined up for what looked like a chip shot..."

"It sailed wide, the nightmare continued, and Elm Street Stadium claimed another victim."

Good write up, eastcoastbrian! LOL
Scranton definitely pulled off the upset win there. I think he's on the right path this season.
Gonna be worth watching to see if he can pull off a win in the title game against London, for sure.
Thanks for adding the commentary. Cracked me up reading it.
