Lots of caveats, like no TFLs, opponent ran 50+ times, lost by 3 scores, etc. But 24 seems like a lot for a relatively close game. What's the most tackles you've seen, excluding blowouts?

24 tackles is definitely up there for a non-blowout. The closest I've personally seen was a MLB with 21 or 22 in a game where the opponent kept pounding the ball and converting short gains all day.
The fact that Herman got 24 without any TFLs is what makes it so unusual. It suggests the DT was cleaning up a ton of runs 3-5 yards past the line rather than dominating the LOS. The 50+ rushing attempts obviously inflated the opportunities, but 24 tackles from a DT is still an eye-popping number.
I'd be curious to see if anyone has screenshots of 25+ in a competitive game. Most of the really crazy tackle totals I remember came in blowouts where one team ran 70+ plays and never threw the ball.
