My first player is a long time https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4909900. Looking at other kicker's stats, it seems that I am behind. Is this kicker worth trying to save, and what did i do wrong? I still have 13 SP that i am waiting to use until I can cap vision.

Its not the worst I've seen, but vision in a secondary attribute. Confidence and strength are major attributes. Those two should be pushed before vision.

my comment will be about end build only. dont care at all about the building seasons. accurate kicking is about kicking, then vision. i had a kicker that was 50% from 55-60 yards. i never saved his build but described it enough to remember the basics. 165 kicking, 105 vision, 85 strength, 64 confidence. he averaged 71 yards a ko, and was over 50% over 50 into his 4th post plateau season. i always thought i had the perfect SA combo, 10-10-27. he won 8 mvp including 2 wl (and a 3rd most wl fg but didnt get mvp somehow), yeah i know, i heard already, 27 in automatic is crazy, but read and reread that description. as far as confidence goes, its only real purpose is to keep that morale line as close to 100% as possible.

The only reasons I'd retire a kicker are:
#1 if it's worse than a CPU dot
and/or
#2 if the team falls apart
41 is a weird ass number to train anything to. It's deep in the monkey shit section of the training chart.
I would have turned off Strength training at least, and switched it to something else if it wasn't too expensive.
I personally would never do a K with less than 12 in Automatic. It increases the distance considered a short (i.e. easy, less accuracy penalty) kick.
When I do kickers, they're always 3 AEQ, built, no gambling. 1 Big Boot, 2 Automatic pieces. +55 Kicking.
The higher secondary attributes are more valuable than the extra +3 Kicking imo.

i'll put my kicker performances against any one, and he's following one of my build plans (i was in hospital i couldnt respond to his email), so basically when i could this is what i told him, double check the math, am not sure if kicking or vision will get to desired ends, i think strength will go too high, and doesnt look like you strt quad training yet. and with the news i got this weekend, it no longer makes sense not to share my build end build plans are for a kicker. my goal is a fg monster, not a ko monster. i dont collect great coverage players to watch touchbacks. and my track record is more ko tackled inside the 20 that make it to the 25. (back when i cared, i tracked my wl/pro teams). i want owners and oc to trust my kickers past 50. my last wl kicker plyed 3 seasons, and i cant remember the exact percentages but i remember the 1st numbers, and over 60 he was just under 25% with long of 67, 50% 55-60, 90% 50-55. and he let me kick a LOT of 50, because those percentages were so high, but would still bitch me out every time i did miss......lol
so here are the goals of my latest plan:
kicking 165
vision 105
strength 85 (all you need for a 67 fg and a ko that is mostly 68-72)
agility 60s
10 clm nerves,
10 big boot (use 2 of each in ce and buy the rest. cheapest way w/o using an aeq),
25+ automatic (i dont think people realize that at plateau, a short kick is 50. i tested that to death there was no difference between kickers with 0-1 automatic and those with 20+ in making near 100% under 50. any one can test it. set the oai to kick at 48 yards regrdless of down or score. pick an opp you can easily beat but not so easy that you score long tds. run the 1st as few aeq as you can get down to , so set all unused eq to kicking and equip it. run the scrim. now reequip all your aeqs, and rerun scrim. i did this hundreds of times with dozens of kickers)
these, i use the final pre plateau season to test how much of each i need for a competitive normal scoring game
conf mid 60s (i suspect i could go lower but never tested it)
stamina upper 20-lower 30 this will depend on how much energy you use on kickoffs and you have to watch game film for that
remember that stamina and conf are not really used directly but thru the energy and morale bars which have other things affecting them thus hard to give true targets for stamina and conf w/o watching games
whatever is left over, i use on jumping, because i noted long ago that bort said it helped kicking, but unlike punts were it directly helps cc punts, i never figured out how it affects kickoffs
there you have it, all my secrets that i have only sparingly told before now

why would any number be weird in the 1st season? how i tell people to build this plan is to drive kicking up optimizing SP with training until a point of kicking > 12 sp, and training less than 10%. i do remind people that i haven't readjusted that for post crash building. then do the same for vision, as they are they only 2 really high skills in this plan until the end of season 1, then switch to quad training using sp for vision. i kind of suspect that he is training strength alone, as 41 seems too high if quad training.

i disagree my friend. i cant get enough tries to get enough data, but it seems to make a fg over 60, we need 162 kicking, and since 165 only got me to 67, i need more kicking. as i noted above, people already waste so much into stamina, conf, and strength, and that just leaves the mysterious jumping, so i'll take 4 cheap aeq every time. not only cheap but so easy to shop for
hope every enjoyed todays game of glb jeopardy and a round of applause to our friends and their hopefully shared laughter

this is why i build for long FGs over TBs. they go on to lose by 3 on a late fg, also bypassing 2 59 yard potential FGs. yes, those low % kicks for 99% of glb because no one builds for that. what did his 3 touchbacks get them, an extra 7 yards per kick. and to be fair, the winners also missed a 56 yarder. oh, here's level 69 hitting a 58 yarder. i wish he hadnt retired because that had the potential to be one of the top 5 long distance kickers i've seen since the crash.
hey themonster2011, i'm not criticizing your player, your game just happened be the perfect example of what i have been saying for 100 seasons on how kickers are built

That's what I mean. ~30 is your ideal capping number. 28-33. For 20-15 SPs.
41 is way over that.

yeah, but look at his vision. i'm 90% he will be putting all sp into vision if he wants to get high enough to let algs float to my recommended 105 target. he's already at 60 so training probably isnt very high at that point, sorry, never memorized the training at the various caps, too tired to look it up. i dont know how to recommend a way to get a skill to 165 and the other to 205 w/o dedicating the 1st 2 full seasons to them. let training take care of the secondaries, until sp become available. remember is an extreme build, not a typical build just trying to get to 140s and 150s. i'l send him an email and see if he will come explain. maybe he found a better way than i advised.

WOW! I just wanted to see what other's thought since I knew that Guppy was in the hospital and I was getting no offers. I did not expect to start a whole conversation on how to build a kicker.
I may have screwed up, but the math seemed to make sense, at the time. I was training vision per the plan. But, the training percentage got so low and that big percentage for strength was just staring at me. I do not plan to quad train both strength and vision, since I will be putting all my SP into vision, eventually training vision would be meaningless, or I would have to buy a fifth skill to swap into quad training. I also did not have all the BT that I needed for quad training, so I started lone training strength.
I have now built my quad training, and after one training to get strength almost 100%, I will start quad training with vision. I will use a few SP to cap strength, since the training percentages will be almost the same. Quad training with vision should get me close to the next cap, while giving me time to collect enough SP to cam strength now, and immediately cap vision again when training caps.
I might have missed my kicking target because I am using the pre-crash ALG table. Is each level ALG still the same, or is the a post-crash table?
I appreciate the comments. See you once the real games start again.
