Christmas is over and I hope everyone had a great time with friends and family!
Well lets start by congratulating Philadelphia on winning a 6th Casual Pro Gold last season which was supposed to be their last season in Pro, at least for awhile. While everyone was enjoying the first few days of the off season, I saw Koowahn post in the forum that he was looking for a way to move up their dots on steroids up for AAA to Casual Pro. Not wanting to have them in Pro, we threw a team together for Phrenzy to eliminate the easy move up. The rest is history and we won't have them in Pro to Ruin Casual as they did in the regular leagues.
So lets have a quick look at Season 118 of Casual Pro.
Alpha
Washington Warthogs - We have a TJ sighting as the owner of the Warthogs and Undefeated AAA Gold winner. Here's a team trying something a little different in their quest for Casual dominance. They haven't had too much trouble on they way up to Pro other than some close encounters with Your Mom if you know what I mean.
Black Sea Storm - I believe they are returning the same team that won Alpha regular season from S117. Really good team that lost to last seasons eventual champion in the semi finals. I expect them to once again be there and could be the class of Alpha.
Tupelo Landsharks - Not sure what to expect here as they were dominated fairly easy by the Warthogs last season in AAA. The owner also has the Fighting Okra in AAA, which I believe is the better of the two teams and should be up in Pro next season. Probably should move a couple of players up and get rid of those CPU dots.
Key Largo Eskimos - Are back for another season of Pro ball. They had a up and down season finishing 8-8 and losing in the first round on the playoffs. I know 6Kings was a little frustrated with how the season went and is hoping for a more consistent showing this season.
Philadelphia Phrenzy - Returning Gold Champs are back with a revamped roster that will be mostly in decline at seasons end. I don't think anyone has tried to do this, to this extent yet at the Pro level so I guess we'll see how the experiment goes. Chemistry issues to start the season and decline issues at the end.
Arditi Italia - Same good team, just changed conferences this season. It's the last season for this group of players as they'll be moving up the farm team next season. 9-7 team from last season that got demoted out of a stacked Beta Conference and requested back to Pro to take Las Spezia's spot. Probably should make the playoffs.
Preseason prediction - I think Black Sea is the only lock for the playoffs right now with Tupelo at the bottom. The other 4 teams will be fighting for the other 3 playoff spots.
Beta
Your Mom Goes Down On Kops - AAA Runner-up and another good team returning to Pro. I know the Warthogs had their number mostly on the way up, but Mom won a few playoff games against them. Mom might be the better Pro team in the end. There's no Kops to go down on now so we'll see who she chooses next.
Granite Peak Grizzlies - New batch of players coming in for last season Beta Regular season champs. Brought in Grey to help build a better defense so that my crappy offense has a chance to win some low scoring games.
Low chemistry and getting to know how these players will gel together now that they're boosted will be the biggest concern through the early part of the season.
Munchen Zeebachs - Last seasons surprise team. I personally thought they would finish last in Beta after their AAA showing. I was wrong and they proved it to many teams along the way. Won a first round playoff upset over my Grizzlies so I kind of expect some of the same this season!
Grand Rapids River Rats - We have another team returning to Pro after 6 season absence. ShowTyme was good enough to bring his team up from AAA to take Las Spezia's CPU spot. I'm hoping the Rats have a better experience this time around.
Bier Markt - Last seasons Silver Trophy winner. Bier just seems to find a way to win in the playoffs. They continue to get to the Championship Game, make that 8 consecutive Championship games played in. Will this be the season that someone else can knock them off? Time will tell!
Wu Dang Kung Fu Academy - What do we have here Roc? Looks like some sort of Frankenstein experiment with the merger of Wu, Las Spezia and a sprinkling of 6Kings.
Wu was another team that had a very up and down season and missed the Beta playoffs and I expect that to probably change this season. Moved back to pro after SCK reset.
Preseason prediction - I think Beta will be much like Alpha this season with Bier Markt being the clear cut favorite to make the playoffs while I have Grand Rapids bringing up the rear. The other 4 teams have various issues ranging from Chemistry to blaming Gmaj and I expect the 4 of them to be battling for those last 3 spots until week 16.
Good Luck to everyone! I think we will have another very interesting season.
Have a great, fun and safe New Year!
