This game is great. Easily the best fantasy football game that's out there. It's a sandbox, in that you can be pretty much whatever you want to be - from a single player, to coach or coordinator, a CFO, or a franchise owner. Hell, you can even be a make-believe sports reporter writing for the sports section of a fictional newspaper. You can put as much or as little effort into the game as you want, either spending hours and days scouting and drawing up plays, or only checking in once or twice a week. You can get your kicks watching game replays, or mixing it up in the forums. There is no other game out there that I can think of that has as much depth and richness to it, that can tailor itself to suit pretty much any taste.
So I'm wondering, why aren't there more agents playing?
Has there been any effort to reach out to potential new agents to repopulate the game? It's clear the game designers know how to build a great game, but perhaps their focus hasn't been on marketing outreach so much, lately. I can't recall for sure, but I seem to remember, many years ago when the game was still new, they did things like interviews with magazines and media outlets that covered video games and whatnot. It's probably not realistic to expect there to be the same sort of media interest in a game that's been around for as long as GLB has, but there are still things that could be done to attract new agents to the game.
Here are a couple ideas...
1. Phone a friend.
If every agent that's currently playing the game reached out to just 1 friend (who is either completely new to Goal Line Blitz, or perhaps has been away for a while), convincing them to either sign up, or come back to the game, the agent population would double overnight.
2. Fish where the fish are.
One of the great (and possibly scary) things about social media platforms is they track user interests. So it would be fairly easy and affordable to run an ad campaign that targets people who would potentially be interested in a game like GLB. You could set a very modest budget that would specifically target people who've indicated they are interested in 'football' or 'fantasy football' for example. Or, get more specific and target people interested in 'Chicago Bears', or 'Michigan Wolverines', etc. You see where I'm going with this. The ad for GLB would pop up in their feed inviting them to sign in and create their very own football star. Boom. New user acquired.
Any other ideas for attracting new users to the game?
