Playoff edition – And Then There Were Four
Following the second round of the Pro League playoffs, the eventual Dot Bowl picture is beginning to take shape. In Pro League 1, the Florida Frenzy travelled to C-Town to face the MF’ers. C-Town entered the game having won both their previous meetings this season, and this contest would be another win for the underwear models, with the home side coming away with a 31-9 victory. Over in Beta meanwhile, WAR MACHINE travelled to Alamo City, where they’d face the hometown Spurs. The Spurs dominated WAR during the regular season, winning both previous contests. However, it would be The MACHINE this time who would come out on top. WAR established an early lead, and would ultimately hold on to prevail by a final score of 30-17, setting up a Pro 1 final against the C-Town MF’ers.
In Pro League 2, meanwhile, the Tempe Venom visited the Jersey Showboats for the Alpha Conference title. The Showboats seemed to have Tempe’s number this season when they took both previous games. However, it would be the Venom this time who would rollick their way to a convincing victory, stunning the home team by a score of 52-21. Over in Beta, the Wife Carrying Hurricanes hosted the Prime Timers of Orlando. The visiting Prime Timers looked to be in good shape until the final minutes of the game, when Honolulu quarterback Tommy Milton bludgeoned his way 81-yards to the endzone for the go-ahead score, leaving a trail of flattened defenders in his wake: https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=49410&pbp_id=937564. Honolulu would hold on to win the game 23-20, eliminating the last of the RyanCane teams from contention, and setting up a Pro League 2 championship between the Wife Carriers and the Venom.
Pro League 2 – League Championship: Tempe Venom @ Honolulu Hurricane Wife Carriers
Honolulu hosted the Venom back in Week 7. It was a game the visiting team would go on to dominate, defeating the hometown Wife Carriers by a convincing score of 52-14. Hurricane quarterback Dayton Hurley was picked off 7 times that day, and will need to do a much better job protecting the ball if the Wife Carriers hope to move past the Venom to play in Dot Bowl CIX.
Pro League 1 – League Championship: C-Town MF’ers @ WAR MACHINE
In this season’s one previous contest between these two teams back in Week 8, the MACHINE came out on top, prevailing by 1 score following a late 4th quarter touchdown that put them ahead. The game would be the 2nd of 4 consecutive losses for the Hood, a skid they would only snap in Week 11 when the MF’ers re-discovered their mojo, rattling off a 4-game winning streak to get them back into the playoff hunt.
For their part, WAR MACHINE comes into this game riding a 5-game winning streak. The team looks to be firing on all cylinders, and pundits are expecting a great game between these two high-scoring squads.
Halftime Act Announced
As we went to press, sources have confirmed that the halftime act at the upcoming Dot Bowl CIX will feature two well-established headliners – Justin Timberdot will join Janet Dotson at center field to entertain the tens of thousands in attendance, and millions more viewing across the networks.
