It's not the defense causing it, here it is ruining c1 TE smother:

2 guys supposed to be on that TE and HB respectively go chasing after WR2. Something about this play is causing the players in the backfield to be ignored by some players.

Here on cover 1 man under they both react properly at first, but right as the ball is about to be thrown they change to WR2:

I have no problem with the SS acting like he is in man base or in TE smother.


It looks like it's the LOLB in 5-2 Man base that's incorrect though, he should be still working to the HB.
Edit: Looked at it some more, The FB gets blocked and the LOLB which is his man then goes to the WR2 after blocked. Pretty consistent from what we've seen. MLB should be working to the HB though instead of WR1.

Think this one looks fine. The extra zone person makes it odd, but correct.
