Hello GLB2 Players!

I don't do this often but I figured I would after this latest update give a full statement of what is happening, what has been happening and essentially what I plan to happen.

#### tldr; ####
1. Statistics showing a downtrend in users and interest (well that was obvious)
2. MASSIVE upgrade to the site speed and capabilities
3. No current future projects (would like ideas) and will continue seasonal update tasks.
4. Cost of GLB2Scout server + time doesn't cover income so if you would like to donate for my time click Donate button on http://www.glb2scout.com/
############

Ok, now lets get into some statistics.

Season 64 Information

Teams : 228 (+18 from prior season)
Scout Active Users : 34

Historical Scout Information

Users : 372
Subscribers : 63 (39 Lifetime, 18 Manager, 6 Player)
Active : 34 (19 Lifetime, 12 Manager, 4 Player) - Last 2 Months

Offensive Plays : 708
Defensive Plays : 864
User Scout Requests : 499,581
Virtual Player Stored : 7,362
Virtual Player Images : 13,089
Virtual Roster Stored : 511
Virtual Roster Images : 433

What Does This Mean?

The thing that jumps out to me is that over the life since the dB reset in Season 17 or so, 372 people have signed up but only 63 are currently have a membership while only 34 are active in the last 2 months. Meaning, 17% of the user base subscribe, while only 9% are active. What does this mean for the state of the game and I am not going to go into that, but just wanted to give a full picture based on what I have seen since Season 17.

Current Updates

As some of you know, but probably most of you don't, I did a MASSIVE upgrade to the underlying server and database to improve speed and efficiency. I am still in the process of updating the underlying code to utilize the newest versions of the codebase that I use, but that will take more time. All that said, the site should be faster now. Also with that no longer will I need to wipe data from season, but now will be able to store going forward from Season 61 without losing that history now. I wish I could get older data, but to be honest, the exports were all corrupt because of performance timeouts I was not aware of at the time.

Future Plans

I am open ears, I plan on continuing to do feature upgrades and update seasons as I have even though I don't play the game anymore, I am still here for you guys. But I would like to hear of any new ideas, improvements, changes you have... any idea is a good idea until its not, but really.... let me hear them and we can openly discuss.

Bottom Line

GLB2Scout is my baby, and that is why I have kept it going despite having no competitive need for it anymore. You guys know I put my time into this, and probably more than you think as I try to keep things simple on the front side, but in the end it takes my time and to be frank the cost of the server in conjunction with the user revenue doesn't come close to the cost of my time, but I don't focus on that aspect. As long as the user revenue covers the server cost, I will continue to do this. But... if you guys want to post a donation of sorts for the time and effort I do put in, you are welcome to through the donate button on GLB2Scout (http://www.glb2scout.com/).

With all that said, I hope you guys feel you are getting what you want from GLB2Scout and at the least I hope it improved your gaming experience with GLB2.

Thank you Stobie for all of the work that you do for us!!!
As much as I love GLB2, if/when glb2scout.com goes away, I think I would be done with glb2. Too much work to do. I can not fathom scouting and game planning without glb2scout. I know I used to do that at one time but I do not want to go back in time.
So again, THANK YOU, Thank you, Thank you, a million times!

Yes! I second what agerm says above. I don't think GLB would survive without Scout as I can't imagine what it would be like to game plan without it.

I appreciate Stobie's efforts and his response rate to site questions and issues. And the upgrade he made to the site is HUGE considering both the speed increase and we'll be able to keep data from seasons even longer!

Great job!!!

As many stated over the years, we all appreciate and love the work you put in for scout and the glb community. I’m pretty sure I use it the most since I’ve topped the charts last few seasons (slightly obsessed with numbers). No glb for me without scout. The upgrade is noticeable and appreciated!

I love GLB Scout more than some of my family members.

I absolutely loved your product, Stobie, but I consider myself a detractor for good reason. I will admit that GLB2Scout has enriched the gaming experience for many, but I for one do not like the concept of Pay-To-Win scouting.

I scout with pen and paper and savour my wins more. But if I'm up against a coach that is a GLBScout user, then I don't gameplan as much and shrug my shoulders if I lose (even in championship games). That's the impact GLB2Scout has had on my gaming experience.

GLB2, as a game would be far better, had they incorporated your scouting tool, so I suggest you sell your product to them. But keep the player builder, etc., for a subscription.

With all that said, I acknowledge the immense contribution that you have made to GLB2 and I've made a small donation to your cause.

I never thought of it that way but I can see where you're coming from. I think if Scout was part of GLB and you still had to pay for it then it would be considered pay-to-win. But, this is made by a (former) player and we're just paying for his time and server space to upkeep the site.

If anything, buying SP, AP & Cap boosts in GLB is, basically, pay-to-win.

I completely agree with your concept of scouting to win, that is why I was very strong on not telling the user what "works" best. Scout is intended to just 'reduce' the time it takes to spreadsheet. I don't every plan on releasing any portion of the product that 'tells' the scouter to run x play versus y play though, I can code that, but refuse to.

I did offer many years ago when I first built to integrate but either was received with silence or ignored. I never planned to build this as an actual product.

I am sorry it has effected you negatively on your game planning, as I used to do the same and that was the reason I built it, because I got tired of spending the hours on hours of logging data and planning around what a teams tendencies are.

Thank you for the donation, it is much apprecaited!

%100 I would not play GLB without scout. Mainly for my player and team building though....not scouting.

Good lord, how do you have the time to do this? Scout allows me to spend time with my family so I don't completely get lost! I did the whole pen and paper thing back in the old days, so time consuming for my old age!

Grid system written on the back on an old envelope haha

1/10
2/vs
2/s
2/m
2/l
3/vs
3/s
3/m
3/l
vl

scouting D for 1-3 wr sets as that's really all I have the time to tinker with
scouting O is a touch trickier as I need to watch the dots and read the SAs, etc.

I still have time for family too
(btw I didn't down vote your comment)

Makes great sense to have the player and team building and all other aspects behind a paywall/subscription, but have the scouting tools more accessible (aka free) to level the playing field in scouting terms.

Compared to how much we spend on the actual game, is 100 for lifetime not a reasonable ask? It's a fraction of the cost of a single team, and it's literally for ever.
