Everyone builds these 155-160 5'8 fake wr's that are unusable against top teams in WL and Pro because targets result in 500 INT's.

Why we do dis?

Rumor has it in S93....
The top WL WR has: 141 spd, high agility
The top EPL WR has: 164 spd and is #2 in omvp
The top NAPL WR has: 121 spd and is break tackle and juke based

My general recommendations can be found here. I recommend the community stops building the same bad stuff over and over and over.
It's a real PITA for me that the WR's that would help me torch the skies are like the rarest of pokemon. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1o_sHb3y8G5YdGhZVN5Rec65zguCtapG3aSAKYMDZLGc/edit?usp=drivesdk

…maybe because no one pass the ball downfield to WRs? Most pick as their targets TE & HB in rare situations they need to pass!

The reason people don't do it, is it doesn't work. Because the WR's made don't "win" in any real way vs WL CB's...

If peeps could drop bombs to a WR1, WL OC's would gladly do so. Except Mauler, who sucks/cheats of course.

So I tried building an entire receiving and tight end core differently. Our theory was build the WRs slow because the slower the dot the easier the catch roll. Taller then average WRs for jumping ability and with 100 catch. What I had noticed is the slower the WR the easier the interception for the speed CB. The CB has the speed to undercut everything even the trips routes we love so much. So thats when I started building some sort of concept like the NAPL WR....

but I agree with overall sentiment

It's not the builds. Seriously. I doubt Bort would ever undertake what would be needed to fix passing in general but that's why builds that >should< work, don't. Consider;

#1.) The Tyreek Hill type of WR is useless here. Great in the real world, but worthless here in GLB land. Even though what makes him great is available here, it doesn't work even close to the same. Hill would be a fast, short, agile, creative route runner. Emphasis on the last one because that's what makes him special. His ability to run a route, see the Qb scramble, and find the open area knowing the Qb will throw there and he'll be there to make the catch. What would make him do the same here? High vision. Very good speed and very high agility. Decent catching. He also needs a QB with great vision and an accurate, strong arm. Since that's achievable (I know, I've done it before) then why doesn't it work like that? Because Creative route running is a joke even if you build to use it. I've watched enough replays to have them burned into my brainstem and I've never seen a receiver, set on CRR, head for the big open spot on the field... or any QB that can see that happening and make the throw.

#2.) The Towering Tree type of receiver. Not fast but strong and tall and all you need is a QB that throws up high knowing his receiver can out-jump anything out there. But Qb's only throw high when it's a bad throw... and not for intent. You also cannot get them to throw 'back-shoulder' throws either. These things don't exist in this game.

#3.) The solid receiver. Wise's rant is mostly about them. Decently fast, decently built, but can't seem to be worth anything. Is it their fault? Not really. One trip through the plays and you can see just how many of them are worthless... and even in a few of the half decent ones, you can really only target a few receivers... making the rest just worthless dots running around. ANY route where it's within 5 yards of another route is an INT waiting to happen. DB's have great vision and speed and simply close down on those so by the time the ball arrives there's 2, 3, 4, 5 or more defenders waiting... along with the 1 receiver. Even the strongest arm QB cannot zip that pass in fast enough to avoid that happening. Routes that are isolated have a better shot at completion... especially if it's one on one.

I do agree with Wise on one big thing though. Short receivers are crap. A 5 foot nothing WR would have to have 75 or more in jumping to be worth a damn... and that's wasted SP's, IMHO. Build them tall and you won't need 75 in jumping.

1. I'm not generally a fan of creative route running on receivers since you really need to move through your route ASAP to get to a break to have any chance at separation. I have however OC'd a FB that ran creative at got 2k receiving yards in WL a long time ago, and the current WR leader in WL is running creative. Also worth noting that no one builds tyreke hill dots, unless you've been churning 170+ spd WR's in secret. 160 spd WRs just are not that fast compared to WL DB's.

2. QB's do consider height and jumping while throwing. But more importantly, height and jumping and catching help your anti-PD and anti-INT rolls to help the defender not take your stuff...

3. Obv a lot is borts fault, but that doesn't mean throwing your hands in the air and doing the same bad thing in perpetuity is the best path.

What role does vision play in this? I feel like all the secondary dots pump vision, but it barely gets talked about for WR/TE. It's supposed to help with the fakes too iirc, but still doesnt get pumped up.

5'11 is not 5'8 is in creative or what? can't see a counterpoint other than a juke-pass-score and that's good when it happens. Nexill wasn't prepared for this, must be that blocking TE you used as a decoy!

17 TDs and 17 INTs

Do you consider this great?

While I appreciate the response, this is the most confusing sentence I've ever read, and I have no idea what it means.

The best OC in GLB having 74 catches, 809 yards and 3 TDS through 13 games out of the two players combined at WR2 (on 1 of his 4 WL teams) is an extremely impressive feat.

However I'll press (x) for doubt that this means meta WR builds work in WL, since they verifiably don't.

I think strength receiving WRs (NOT break tackle WRs) are the way to go, you get the run blocking and maybe some advantage over the course of the game pancaking and demoralizing opposing CBs to maybe have a leg up in the 1v1 matchups. It's a tilted game of rock-paper-scissors and you can't beat rock with a smaller rock which is what the average build tries to do.
