I made a post about this a while back, it's not super common - but damn, the guy has like 75 man awareness and just doesn't follow across field on man base, even the SS takes forever to pick it up.

I posted a bunch of examples in the previous thread, this keeps on happening specifically to the BTE routes and there are even teams that literally are taking advantage of this and running their S* TEs at BTE mostly.

This one looks like it was pump fake actually... holy cow that was a large reaction. I didn't see it because of the quick read right beforehand. But just, wow on it fooling 3 people all with 75+ awareness that long and that hard - apparently I need to take it on my QBs.

but pump fake doesn't work against man coverage

Else it would say "Pump Faked"

Could the SS be covering the TE in man coverage, but just gets stuck in the scrum? Not sure if the LB is in a 'spy' or zone or how he acts in that situation.

This is a situation that the Safety is Man on the TE. The LB just so happens to be lined up with the TE. I don’t know know if he drops into spy or zone with no coverage assignment. As you can tell by triggered abilities. The Safety is coming over for his man coverage but as he ran out, the WR cut in. This is what triggered the coverage expected ability. I believe it’s for coverage tech. Because he got beat with the inside slant, it triggered the activation.

Some man plays that are not explicitly double coverage (i.e., smother) will actually send extra defenders into zones even though you called a play like Man Base. Seems like the LB covered a zone for this play with the SS in man and the SS overran the route due to a combination of physicals, BTE route running, and (probably most of all) a poor starting angle.

I have never once seen this, only the bug that makes your guy stand still for a while. They will always 'snap out of it' and go chase the guy eventually.

All the more reason this is a bug, as both LBs just stop at the same time despite both of them having the TEs respectively as their primary cover target.

SS also stops.

It's man base, everyone is only man to man, extras are supposed to double up like a smother, but the smother target isn't set - so it typically just double covers TEs first.

Yeah, this is how a man base SHOULD run:

https://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay/836298/1649362

8 on 5 so 3 guys just get doubled.

It just doubles up on 'inside' receivers on the line first, which are typically TE/BTE or WR3/4/5

It's a bit off pump fake can fire when no one is in zone anyhow.

Also, how did I not notice this in the other thread?

It's specifically only broken on 4-4 plays.

And, FFS, there is no SS in a 4-4 Big defense.
