It's been an interesting week in the mothership, as Armor Critical's (1-0) pilots went without two nights of "normal" practice. The problem came when the team's workout facility was impossible to enter. Success came as maintenance crews worked around the clock to give the team access. A member of the teams ownership group ultimately provided security codes that allowed technicians to gain entry.
QB oTa's TripleBouncy related: "I'm glad that ownership finally came through. If we had more facilities, we could have used them as a backup. Missing those 'flight time' days really hurt our routine."
The pilots for the team spent the extra off-field time wrenching. The outdated gameday ships used by the team require everything from laser recalibration to bouncy angle geometry HUD overlay mapping. Most teams in the league only require to do these types of maintenance once in the preseason, but AC's ships are overhauled before each game. One wonders whether the owners if the team are interested in bringing the team into the modern era with leading edge technologies, or if they are content to have a perennially outdated loser.
One bright spot that may get obscured by this week's practice facility snafu: Armor Critical is 1-0 for the season, with their next matchup coming in just a few hours against Dream Team (0-1), an Alpha Division rival.
Dream Team's first game of the season proved to be a defensive battle. They were scoreless against Alpha's toughest looking team, NW Storm (1-0). Dream Team's defense had a solid performance, limiting NW Storm to 221.5 yard of total offense. Dream Team's offense, however, couldn't put points of the board (they outpaced NW Storm's yardage for 300 yards of total offense).
Armor Critical will be looking to put pressure on Dream Team's QB Tecmo Tom brady 2.0, he dropped back 50 times (76.92% of offensive plays), Dream Team is heavily pass focused as they only ran the ball 15 times (23.08% of the teams total plays) in the first league game.
I'll give the slight edge to Armor Critical for this game, if they can contain the passing attack from Dream Team.
