FS is set to "conservative" pursuit style. Yet, he makes a direct line to the HB and does not try to contain. He should be moving outside the WR/CB blocking interaction.

Why do you think rolls are involved in tactics? If a coach says "always play outside". He should not have to think about it and make a decision.

Also, it happens all the time....and he has 89 pursuit.

Yeah, outside contain should always be the default for all DBs. Don't understand why the game doesn't reflect this.

I think closing speed has a way of overriding the pursuit tactics.

I think this is the answer. Before closing speed kicks in, he seems to be drifting outside.
