In running a primarily 5-2 Man Defense for the past 3+ Seasons, there are a bunch of play types missing.
The Playbook has 1 DE Flats. It doesn't have a version where the FS plays Man. It doesn't have a Strong side version (where only the LDE moves to the flat) and doesn't have a Weak side version (RDE to the flat). 4-3 Man do.
Man DE Flats has the MLB blitzing causing a 4 man inside rush when you're concerned about an outside run. Can we get a version where the MLB isn't blitzing? This is linked to the first request as I'd rather my FS plays Man but I have to use 1 DE Flats to keep my MLB from blitzing but then my FS plays Zone. (And no Strong only version and no Weak only version. But fixing the first request may solve the problem.)
Man FS Tiger and Man SS Tiger - both have the Safeties running inside of the DE when there is already a 5 man rush. This cause them to get stuck quite often. Can't they loop around outside the DE and use their Speed instead of their lack of Power?
Over Mike Edge and Under Sam Edge - Can we get non-blitzes from the MLB/LO but keep the Over/Under shift? This way the LO can be heads up on the TE so you're essentially matching the 6-man OLine.
Can we get some Shallow SS plays? Maybe a Under Sam-Shallow SS combo where the LO lines up on the TE (against 2WR) and the SS plays somewhat Shallow. Kind of like the 4-3 Strong Shift play but without the blitzing? As a DC, I want the LO heads up on the TE if it's a run, but if it's a pass, I want the SS to pick up the TE and the LO to cover the FB.
Can we get a TE Smother play where the LO and SS combine to cover the TE under/over? (Linked to the above request in a way, but I'm envisioning two different plays)
The general problem with the 5-2 Man plays is that even when neither Safety is playing Zone, they both sit back and start in a Cover 2 position. The SS is always over the top of the TE. When I started this, I figured the LO would slide out and cover the TE a lot and provide underneath coverage but that doesn't happen. The SS is almost exclusively covering the TE and he's always starting 10 yards away.
Even something like Zero Edge Thunder, a Short Inside Run play, has the FS & SS playing Cover 2 essentially. Shouldn't they drop down into the normal MLB & LO positions?
Thank you.
