Flirting with the idea of a pure pass offense for the S53 reset.... CHANGE MY MIND

1- I’ve never done it
2- Will force me to get better at passing
3- Less restrictive than a pure run team?
4- Major experimentation with screens

I suggest pass heavy. I little bit of run will make it better. There will be times where you really should. I have learned that 100% oh something is not the best plus it is easier to defend

I will be honest with you. Do NOT do it! pure pass can be shut down so easy it isnt even funny. Now that was my assessment from a few seasons back, so I could be wrong.

I have been thinking about all run again. All run you can rotate beween inside, outside, and off tackle runs and still be hard to defend. You run to both left and right equal amount as well as inside, off tackle, and outside equal amounts. once the team is fully built it becomes hard to stop all the way maybe.

I think you should do all pass all the time, particularly on 3rd and long. Don’t even put a hb on the roster

I think it's a fun idea, but not necessarily for the reasons you mentioned.

2 - A mixed offense may actually force you to be better at passing, since you have to make harder decisions about where to allocate points.
3 - It can be more restrictive than a pure run team. Short yardage situations will be hard.
4 - Screens are better with run blocking.

I actually had an all-pass team planned out for next season and I was really looking forward to it, but scrapped it for an all-run that's more my style. Would be happy to share what I had if you're interested.

Yeah, if you go pure pass you will see nothing but ZEB and sacks throughout Rookie, and it won't ever get any better.

This. My team will be the opposite. Heavy run (80/20) with a S* running QB and S* HB. But we are also building a power running WR, hybrid S* TE and speed demon slot receiver, who we can move around with other game plans. I thought about pure run but realized it is too easy to prepare for and stop. Have to at least be a threat to pass or its game over.

Pure teams are very easy to game plan against.

Wow...gonna be a lot of all/heavy run teams.

Prob should have a few runs put in there, but if you do go all pass (or mostly pass), I'd have a HB built to actually catch instead of just being there for screens. You might be able to find some hidden gems in the plays if so, who knows.

I have a heavy pass team and it's basically pointless by the time you reach Vet, works well before Vet though. Mainly because QBs add no lift to the pass and the get picked off with ease if a defender is anywhere in the flight of the ball. A WR can be 10 feet ahead and the pass picked by a DB who is just in the flight path. The passing nerfs after the AA run neutered the deep pass too

Save yourself the aggravation.

I thought 100% pass or run teams fell out of favor quite some time ago.

I don't (and seems most people here don't) think you can win with an all run/pass team. More of a 80/20 split...or 85/15.

Wouldn't that have to do with pass power? A QB with a low pass power would lob the ball in the air instead of throwing it on a dart.

Low power passes are too slow in the upper tiers, and it impacts accuracy on long passes.

Would love to have that arc though, just with the speed of the passing power invested.

Still seems like a pretty high ratio to me, but I don't know.
