Forum > Bugs > Teams try FGs early before the half
Link

I've noticed it a few times now where, during pick-up games, a team with the ball and 0:23 left on the clock (it always seems the be at that time) will try to kick a FG even if it's 2nd down. Once the opposing team gets the ball they still have time to run three plays before the half ends.

That's 3 plays the first team should have to get closer to the end zone.

Not a huge thing, I guess, but annoying.

It can be a huge thing. Had a game not long ago where had we not stopped the opposing team after said early field goal, they would have won. Those 20 seconds can mean difference in a win or lose with the right 2 teams playing each other.

Its an on going thing, i in a way wish there was a tactic to force the sim to choose whether to make the kick at a certain time left in game. Set it between 3 seconds left and 25 seconds left. A FG in real life takes 3-4 seconds from snap of ball to end of play. Choosing 3 seconds could mean your team has the ball with 4 seconds left but is forced to use one more play resulting in time running out, but choose 6 seconds left to kick final FG wouldnt leave much time for the opposing team to do anything other than return the kick.

Just wish there was some kind of tactic for that, but also for punters itd be nice to choose if they attempt coffin corner or just straight up touch back booming kick. My punters an accuracy machine but you wouldnt know because the sim wont let him even attempt a coffin corner but once every 5 games. When you play againt well built teams as we have to go up against your gonna have to punt, wish i could force my P to atleast attempt to hit that 5yard line out of bounds marker

Did you have any timeouts left? I once had a game run out with 23 seconds left.
