If you were able to have a simplified mobile app, able to upgrade your player, boost, see stats, join a pickup game, read forums, basically all the daily upkeep as well as forums, you would see an increased number of users (in my opinion). Using the site on my apple phone is not very user friendly, I couldn't even make a player and had to log in to the website to do it. Something to think about and try to draw in new members

I can do all of that on my Samsung (Android) phone. What really needs a mobile update is GLB2 Scout. It's impossible to scout a team on that site and set tactics here, because the GLB2 Scout page demands refreshing each time you come back to it, so you have to go through the entire process again.

I don’t use glb scout as I’m just getting back in to it. For today’s users to play a web based game on their phone isn’t as “easy” or convenient as using an app. I just noticed there doesn’t seem to be as much activity as there used to be 10 years ago when I played initially.

They had an app for the first game and gave up on it right away. People just complained about it. Although it was never close to finished I personally loved it for player maintenance. It had player cards you could kind of swipe through making SPs very quick and easy to add. I had 100+ players at one point. Once the app went dead I cut down to less than 30 and it took twice as long to train than the 100+ with the app.

Agree, this has been brought up before. GLB's user base would grow quite a bit too if it were in the app marketplaces. This game was made for micro-transactions.

Based on your extensive market research?

GLB Classic app got basically no downloads.
Other smaller games got basically no downloads.

Most recommendations is to have at bare minimum five million dollars for marketing to even release an app. Literally, more than two thousand games are released on mobile devices every day. Within a week there's more than 15,000 games with just as much visibility as our app would be, which means basically none. Considering it would take probably six months to a year because it's not like the web code can transfer to a mobile app, just for the game to get five downloads and then get lost under mountains of other games that get five downloads, it doesn't seem like a worthy endeavor.

The primary demographic for mobile devices are kids and housewives, neither of which overlap with GLB at all.

With players its a lot of hope and dreams the game will expand. With admins your right on needing a market plan and everytbing else. Sorry, i guess i get excited thinking about the mobile app and basically the end game. I know nothing about marketing and advertising, but dammit ill wear glb merchandise until either I die or the game dies. Wish more people enjoyed it as much as some of the vets here with 14 championships felt about the game

I mean, I get that. I enjoy the enthusiasm, but then it turns into a rallying call, then everyone getting mad that it isn't being done or considered which leads to people getting worked up and convinced that we just don't care. It is a lucrative market, and to the average person it probably looks like a mega cash cow that we just won't tap into. That misconception is part of the reason that the market is over-saturated to the point of absurdity.

I heard about GLB1 on a Miami Dolphins forum in like 2008 and have been hooked ever since. There has got to be tons of people like me who would enjoy this game if they knew about it. If Crypto makes me rich before this game dies Ill run a few adds

Almost all of the users are from word of mouth.

Advertising is crazy expensive and has such low returns. We've been spending like a third of our revenue on advertising for the past six years, and it buys such little ad space that most people are convinced that we don't advertise at all.

Any thoughts of agents already playing to get involved other than word of mouth?

A good number of users have come to this game, created a player or two for a couple of seasons, then left never to return because the game is hard to learn. The interface is clunky, instructions limited, non searchable forum, vague skill descriptions, ect. Cut the advertising expenses and bring that focus to make the game user friendly to retain users.

I'd wager if the game had been able to keep those users who found their way into the game this would be a very busy game.

I originally had a career in advertising (marketing majors stand up!!) and it’s much more complex than you guys are making it seem. Yes there should be an easier interface, and the “register your email” for full access to forums and such is a waste considering there isn’t email blasts or anything else relevant as far as email goes.

That should be the first step in my opinion. Consistent email messages (few times a week or even a month) could increase retention rate by a good percentage. Few tweaks and additions to overall user interface could also go a long way into retention. I would suggest not spending anything on advertising (or decrease the budget and use Facebook/instagram ad tracking to target a specific demographic, costs much less cash in the long term for small businesses) until there’s a deeper system of play here. There’s a steep learning curve here and between current users and the way the game runs, there’s not much keeping players here anymore.

It’s basically clockwork. Season ends, few days next seasons starts, over and over again. No special events, no game engagement that’s not started by players, interaction between the current user base is eh, etc.

User boards will probably be the biggest plus for the game in it’s current state and could bring in some guys who will probably become quality users (small market schools especially because of their likelihood to read and react) and yes a few bots (or even starting a partnered initiative where users provide their links and everytime someone uses their link they get a flex bonus or something yada yada) could possibly work.

The game actually has a high ceiling currently as covid has fried the public perception of going outside plus american football is growing ever so slightly in popularity worldwide due to how big the entertainment market is here.

You should probably “hire” a guy for the advertising stuff honestly because if you’ve never actually worked in the field you won’t really understand how much goes into the process.
