Simple Q: Why?

While they may not mean too much, it is kinda retarded how a team plays against one quite a bit stronger, since all their players are 1 tier higher. Screws with my stats

I’ve always insisted they could fix this, as evidenced by the fact that rookie and sophomore teams have tier protection that ensures they don’t play teams above then.

I mean, it may suck to have a limited pool of teams to face for ladder, but it’s way better than facing teams tiers up and down from you.

And since every league has even numbers of teams in them, you can always evenly match up teams with no one left anyhow. I still don’t get why we haven’t changed this to just do exactly as rookie and sophomore does already.

Because the worst teams in a tier above are likely a better matchup than the teams at the top of your tier? Because teams at the top of your tier have more competitive games with teams out of tier than swinging down all season? Your last out of tier game was 34 to 24. I'd hardly call that "retarded".

I'm not sure if that "screws with your stats" as much as insulating you from stronger competition would. I mean, your team scored more points in your last out of tier game than they have in any league game this season.

I really wanted to respond to this comment negatively but honestly this is just something that happens with a game on life support. The player base is too small to support the game and has been for awhile now and its not worth the effort to make the game more appealing to the current players.

Obviously i hope the game survives and has a massive comeback but in the event that it does not i hope it goes open source or converted to single player and released on steam so that it may live on in some fashion.

i have and will continue to be a supporter of splitting leagues with cpu teams to ensure some level of parity between low playerbase league tiers. A cool feature that could come of that would be the two league champions playing against each other which would be fun.

You could make sure every tier has a second all CPU league with no teams purchasable. CPUs are better than bad human teams anyways. I personally like games one tier up or down. I hate in league ladder games the most. The two tier difference was nearly unplayable though.

add some updated defenses and offenses created by the community would be nice too.

Okay, so let's say games are forced to be within the same tier. Who does the top team play? Do they play the second and third ranked teams a dozen times per season? Do they cycle through beating up the lower ranked teams multiple times a season? How is that now more meaningful and fun?

Add a CPU league so teams just curbstomp CPU teams all season in ladder? Is that more engaging somehow? Does that somehow make stats more "valid"?

All this because the top teams in a tier want to swing down all season rather than trying to take on teams a tier above. I'm not sold.

I tend to agree with you, but adding a cpu league into the mix with the current system wouldn't be a bad idea and kinda of a compromise.

So you “almost” responded negatively, obviously you got the system figured out and should build a game on your own since @this game is on life support” pretty ignorant for someone who doesn’t know the finances of this games IMO.

All you seem to do is complain about this and that and about what what they will and won’t fix. You haven’t been around to see what they’ve done with the game over the last 7-10 years despite this not being their main source of life. I mean if you’re not going to have a solution then give your suggestion and move along as you don’t know the parameters and what can and can’t be changed in the code without the destruction of the game. I’ve reached out to them multiple times about investing in the product and I assure you the game isn’t drowning it’s some guys putting out the best sim for American football there is.

CD has stated in the past that they are currently making less than minimum wage on this game. We currently do not have the player base to support the ladder system passed sophomore as a large majority of teams reset before journeyman. I am well aware this is a labor of love game. using myrik as an example, The Kentucky Mountaineers played against the Bow Street Runners Kentucky currently the leaders of both tiers according to the ladder. So the number 1 team of that tier gets to play down to the other number one team? and lets not forget the teams that had to play two tiers up recently. The system does not work. It does not provide a balanced game experience in these instances and that SHOULD be rectified.

In theory it "should" be balanced to have the top team of a tier play the bottom team but that is a LOT more rare than it should be.

The game is not in a healthy state it needs more people to play it. I understand the game is an incredibly niche market as an asynchronous multiplayer game about american football with heavy arcade elements but the NPE and general game balance are areas that can be improved to further aid in player retention.

They were both 1-0 for the season and, due to popular demand, ELO resets every season. So they were both essentially tied with the rest of their tier. The first ladder game of the season is always a shitshow.

And even then, the game was 35-7, still much closer to a football score than a basketball score. Especially considering the Mountaineers, in the previous league game, won 51-14 against a same tier team. Their most recent league game, they won by over 100 points...would the game really be vastly improved with more of these?

CD, I know your having a problem with balancing the CPU Teams to provide a meaningful challenge to fully boosted god squads or even just well made teams but don't lay that deficiency on the players by saying its a "Challenge" or that top teams just wanna beat up on cpu players. Make the CPU teams a challenge use the templates and the new plays and new playbooks/tactics.

Except people don't want to be challenged by CPU.

Last time CPU were an actual challenge, people flipped their shit that the players they were paying for were losing to CPU players.

I've beaten mismanaged PC teams by a much higher score than most of my cpu games. Osiris elluded to that as well. The game would be improved by a FEELING of fairness. The game is not purely fair because not all teams are equal but at least in same tier match ups your afforded the option to make it fair...with money XD

but why would i want to pay money if i'm going to be fighting above my weight class for 50% of a season. thats unfortunate too

and the cpu needs to be beatable but a challenge. Sprinkle some CPU Superstars in there we got plenty of builds to choose from. make me want to go to my fellow coaches and ask them how they dealt with a cpu's S* HB or DL
