QB always targets a place about 10-12 yards upfield from where the HB is on this play.

Just thought I'd report that fact, again.

I can comb through the pickup games my pickup HB has been playing, it literally happens 1-2 times a game minimum though so it's not hard to see.

Yeah, I've noticed this as well. And it's not just that formation and that play. When the QB misses on screens, he misses BIG.

Maybe, but I've noticed any time this play is called it happens.

Okay after setting up a quick playbook and making that screen the priority. it was ran 35 times in total on 24 of those plays the play functioned as intended

about 31% of the time the qb just wings the ball up field :\.

I'll go ahead and run a different screen to see if the numbers are the same.

none of them displayed the wild throws of Shotgun HB Weak Screen.

Also looking through glbscout it has like 25% less comp than any other HB screen

Weird, I've not recalled seeing it go off without a hitch, must just be my luck - It's not a play I or any of my teams use so I only saw it in pickups.

sure there are other instances of this occurring but its dramatically higher on this play than other plays if you have glbscout you can see it in its completion percentage vs any other hb screen is dramatically lower

Yes, and I've seen it happen in other weak side/left screens, as well. I just didn't feel like searching back to find them all.

Quarterback never turns his head to see where the running back is, hard to throw those screens when the target is behind your back

great now run it 45 times and lets see that 30%+ fail rate.

in the last three seasons this play has been run 2,374 times and has a completion % of 44.85%

Yes this is an issue thats affecting all screens but it affects this screen MORE than all the others.

I've always avoided the screens where the HB turns away from the LOS - might be a false impression, but they seem to be clumsy in the execution and give the defender way too much time to react -

but I take your point - just from a statistical point of view, why is this particular play so much worse?
