How important is footwork for a QB? How high does it should it be? Does it help with getting away from sacks or is that just pocket awareness?

Footwork is backward / sideways running speed.
Pocket Awareness is how far away your QB notices the pressure.
High PA plus high Footwork helps in avoiding sacks though your QB will favor Strong Side movements so LOLB pressure rather than ROLB pressure will reduce his rollout / escapability.
To specifically answer it, high PA helps the SA On the Run fire. (#1 QB SA in my book). So I’ve gone with higher PA and some Footwork over just high Footwork.
And play selection because that helps too.
Target 60+ PA and 30+ Footwork and see how those work at Vet with your Play Selection.
Adjust as needed.
