What if...

Stick with me here for a second

what if..... we had a GLB2 Draft

I know what you guys are thinking off the bat: what kind of crack is this guy smoking? Well i promise you i'm not, my lungs are too sensitive.

The dots need to go out in style man. I propose that towards the end of their career, when everything is said and done and they're looking for that last twinge of excitement before they hang up the cleats to their boom or bust (or decent) career, we give them that list glimpse of excitement before the big lights go out for them.

Basically before the last season of a teams Vet run, we'll pool together how many teams are resetting (hopefully more super tiers to come) and we'll essentially put their star players up for "draft eligibility". The picks would be based on ranking of the pooled teams (with the lowest ranking getting the first overall) and would follow a serpentine fashion so even the better teams can snag a guy or nine to make sure they stay elite.

I'd keep record in the forums (for anyone to add too of course) of things like matchups where guys are going against their old teams, which guys have made the best impact on their new team, biggest gainers and losers in rankings, "DVOTY" (drafted vet of the year), and other things.

It sucks as an idea, but is something we could do to make this fun/interesting and also challenge ourselves by seeing if we can adjust to new personnel in the shortest time frame in order to beat out everyone else for a top spot.

i'm expecting a lot of dislike on this, but it's just an lol idea i'm throwing out there that could be fun if ran properly

what if...... Interested users organized a draft themselves. We did them all the time in GLB1, nothing is stopping you. Same goes for tournaments.

I remember having lots of issues with people signing and doing as they were asked for their builds. I was in it twice iirc then after that I gave up.

There was that. Also guys taking forever to make their picks. We remedied that but the whole draft thing wasn't that great.

People signing and not doing as asked with their builds is certainly not exclusive to a draft.

The best part of the draft was working with guys and teams you normally would not.

It could be possible if they made a CPU exclusive league, vet only, open builds, S* CPUs, humans could only own teams and be coaches, no control over builds, builds would be somewhat pre-made, but with difference between players to justify draft.

Live draft would still be a problem, but making a semi-auto system would take too much work.

I think it would be cool if they used guys that had reached legend. Instead of retiring add a couple seasons in a new league with a draft and still have full control of the game plans. make it like fantasy and if the owner isnt on auto draft for them. GLB could charge the same owner fee and make extra money to make it worthwhile for them to do. wouldn't cost anything for the player and without it there guy would retire so not a big deal if they are drafted by a loosing team.

This would be super cool. The draft class every year could be the players reaching legend.

I'll leave this here until further notice. The game has become very stale and this would be a nice facelift.

If I recall several things happened with the other drafts.

1) Team drafts player, player signs with another team, doesn't sign at all, signs and goes inactive.
2) Owner takes days to make a pick, doesn't sign player, signs owners own player, owner goes inactive.

There has to be a contingency plan in place to prevent all those, a draft would be cool, but it's almost impossible to do with a bunch of volunteers, let alone being forced into it.

Screw user ran drafts like those other drafts you mentioned, I used to run 1 of them and you're right...very time consuming and very chaotic to organize never mind the agents that cause mischief in the draft itself...
I do really like whats been suggested here tho and it would be epic imo
