All of the new players like myself, or at least the ones I've chatted with agree that the game allows the old-timers to rig the system by not making rules to stop them. These cheaters have teams in the same leagues and even in the same divisions. Owners of these teams coach or manage teams that are supposed to be their 'rivals?" That's just an insult to everyone's intelligence. There is no true open competition. Everyone sees how they rig the playoff system by throwing games when a friend's team needs a win to get in. The problem with that is that it excludes new owners from making it to higher levels of success. It's hurting the game, and it seems like the people who run the game are either oblivious to it or simply don't care.
What's the result? New players see that they don't have a fair chance to succeed, and they write-off GLB2 as a game that they might enjoy. The people who run it are too afraid to offend the old and entrenched players by trying to level the playing field, so the game never gets new investors, or at least not the number that they could be getting if not for the cozy relationship between cronies and management.
I say that it's the fault of both the old-timers and the people who operate the game that it isn't breaking through as it should. It's a great game and should do better, but until some solution to this is implemented, it will stay a wannabe third-tier game. A little backbone by management would go a long way.
