Win and go move up, lose and you move down. It tries to match you up with a same tier team within 10 ranking spots of you (I think). However, once you’ve run out of opponents that fit those requirements, you’ll start to be matched with teams in the tiers above or below you. Also, it tries to avoid repeat matchups but the chances of them occurring increase greatly the later into the season you get and you run out of fresh opponents to play.

I think you also get more "points" in the ladder ranking if you beat teams in the tier ahead, and lose more if you lose to those in the tier below. I think point differential and potentially some other stats play into the rating as well, but not 100%.

Perfect summation of the GLB2 experience. Which is why we played up 29 global spots to a 20-0 team and the #1 team in our league at 19-1 played 37 global spots down against a 10-10 team.
