I'm having an issue where I want certain plays for short yardage situations, but I don't really want them to run anywhere else. There doesn't seem to be a way to make this happen. I would prefer that Goal Line D section was independent of formation.

I end up having to call stupid things on the goal line or stupid things in other situations, unless I give up the ability to ever blitz except in very short situations.

Am I missing something obvious here?

There is a Goalline D section in the defensive playbook.

Yes, but that doesn't seem to get called on the goal line.

I have all middle blitzes and outside coverage and it keeps calling bad pass coverage against three wide receiver sets. So then if a singleback three WR run gets called, I'm in a terrible formation and not anything from the goal line playbook.

I don't know if this is private but it's 1st and goal, we call strong cloud 6 instead of anything from my goal line book. My goal line book is all different short blitzes, my tactics are heavy inside run and some short pass, neither of which strong cloud 6 is.

I also put a short inside run play in the 3 WR section for these exact situations, but it still doesn't get called.

Just to be more clear, strong cloud 6 is set to Long Pass in the playbook. So I don't understand how it got called here.

Goalline D plays will only be called if the offense runs a Goalline offensive play. It has nothing to do with where the ball is on the field. That is set in the tactics section. And even then, there is no "inside your 5 yard line" tactic. Goalline defensive plays are pretty much screwed vs up the middle runs out of normal formations.

Because Long Pass was selected from your tactics.

Take 1st down for example. Unless one of the situations in the Prevent tab occurs, you will always get a tactic from the 1st down section, even if it is 1st and goal from the 1.

So the Goal Line, Short Yard section in TACTICS only comes into play based on formation?

That is what has been confusing me! Thank you.

Is there any particular reason that's been stated why defense doesn't have a red zone tab?
