Would it be viable to have a type of side tournament that really displays managing skills (as a pose to player builds) that runs on a weekly/monthly basis?
- Comprised of either a group stage then knockout or purely knockout (depending on sign-up numbers)
- A roster of temporary CPU players is generated (specifically for the tournament), and every manager receives this exact roster
- It is then up to the manager to analyse the builds of the players he has been given, and create a playbook/gameplan to take the team to victory!
Pros
- Allows for a different 'theme' each tourney, e.g. super speed backs, or scrambling QB's
- Shows off ingenuity in playcalling
- A nice casual time-filler outside of league/ladder
Cons
- Obviously takes time to implement
- Needs a high participation level
Questions
- What would the entry fee/prize be? Would it be free?
- How would the builds of the temporary players be decided?
So yeah. I know this probably isn't a viable concept, but I thought about it the other day and decided I may as well post it up here and see what sort of reception it got.
