you sure that's sprinting? Should still be footwork.

IRL it would be but in the game the description for footwork is "The ability to backpedal and sidestep quickly". Judging by the fact that he steps up into the pocket at twice the speed that he backpedalled I would say that is a combination of sprinting and maybe quickness. The animation just takes too long to switch IMO.

It actually almost looks like a backwards pass.

I've just never given my QBs a lick of sprinting and since I got 45+ footwork as a minimum I usually see good pocket movement like that. Dropbacks typically aren't at full tilt... I could be wrong though, sprinting could help here - I dunno.
