I'm tired of my QB getting sacked on 3rd and 14 because he will not throw to a receiver until he reachers the 1st down marker. Give my QB a drop down in the tactics section for "3rd Down Passing". Have the options "Check Down" or "1st Down".

On 3rd downs only:
If check down is selected, the QB will throw to an open receiver when pressured even if the receiver isn't passed the 1st down marker. If "1st Down" is selected, the QB will act as he does now, waiting for his target to pass the 1st down marker before getting sacked....errrr......passing the ball.

I don't know. I try to stay out of 3rd and 14. I may run inside on 2nd and long just to stay away from the auto sack. May as well give us a 3rd down punt option, better than a sack fumble.

We at least need a check down option on 3rd and long. Right now, if you pass in a 3rd and long situation, it is an auto sack. It will also eliminate all the crazy sack records and other defensive players might win a defensive MVP award.

You make a decent case, I'll buy it.

It is pretty annoying when Cover 3 Tiger is called, everyone is wide open, but the QB takes the sack. I'm thinking just throw the damn ball! I have a guy that can catch and run for a few more yards.

He has an okay point he just hasnt adjusted to the sim in the way other non spam players have, which is avoid thrid and long like the plague. Make sure to pick up some yards on 1st/2nd, or else you'll be done for. I dont mind waiting til he passes the 1st down line, and it doesnt always have to be past it, sometimes he'll hit the receiver if he's wide opne within a few yards of the 1st down line.. that or you could sue some screens which will go off early. Its just extra tough at rookie, but most heavy third down blitzers i find get smashed when you reach pro & vet, I love seeing it msot of the time

I agree with GE on this. 3rd and 14 if they send heat the QB needs to check down. Hell have him throw it away I don't care. But holding the ball till sacked is just dumb. Always has been.

Still looking through the OP for any mention of ONLY When Cover 3 Tiger is run by the defense can't find it anywhere in the OP, or my response may have been different.

Yeah he is clearly talking about blitz spam against 3rd and very long. Cover 3 tiger is almost always ran in that situation by most. And unless your olineman are built right it always going to be a sack.

Like i said as well. Its normally that no one is building there Gs to be able to kick out and pick him up. Which I don't think you should have to break a linemans build because they have something way OP in the game. But it is what it is. Try and stay out of 3rd and very long I guess

But look at that same play in 3rd and 10 or less and its a free First down most of the time. At least for me. If I gameplan for it it would be nearly every time. Back that up 2 more yards to 3rd and 12 and the LB just to fast most of the time.

Anyone getting sacked on 3rd and very long by these other plays likely either need to run better plays or are playing very well built DEs

Oh and I think I build my oline to move better than most do. And they still cant pick it up most of the time.

OK I labeled the entries in my list for plays against blitzes, but I will +1 If a coach wants his QB to check down there should be an option.
