Well at least hes fully aware hes running into the pile......but seriously maybe return awareness isnt the answer, Ive never put much stock into that particular skill and I think you have grossly over invested in it at 80.
Return Awareness has unfortunately been found to be next to worthless. Carry awareness to 50-60 is ideal. Dont ask me why they have such a useless skill in the game. What will really help him kick out from the pile is high footwork and elusive running. Juke would help also.
That being said 100 Power Running/100 Conditioning and gold Power Through is my ideal base for a Retuner.
See, these are the kinds of things that make this game unnecessarily less fun. I shouldn't have to find out after I've already gimped my player over two seasons that the skill called RETURN AWARENESS has nothing to actually do with RETURNING THE BALL.

Thanks for the help, fellas.
My first run to vet was full of stuff like that man... I'd not worry about how great you will do your first time through to Vet, but just try to soak up as much knowledge as possible for your first reset and then make a solid go at it.

This is good advice
Cant expect to build all great players at first. See whats working or not and adjust as needed.
This is why I didn't jump right into owning. I spent a few seasons trying to learn as much about builds as I could.

Couple of things they don't mention:
Return awareness helps to not fumble on returns, and in cooperation with good footwork or quickness or both can lead to some good use of blockers downfield and cuts.
Now for the bad news, blocking awareness on special teams is garbage, so the return awareness going over 60 is probably overkill. But if you get up a good base of quickness, footwork, or both you could see some awesome moves from your guy. If you get some elusive running as well you'll see people take worse angles on him as he'll appear more shifty, and you can still probably build into a decent player this time around and build off what you learn into making an amazing player down the road.
