When does a HB start breaking all those tackles like I see in Vet? Drago now has 91 power running but is still getting tackled around the LOS on most goalline runs.

He should already be breaking a decent amount assuming that he has the conditioning to get the most out of it. Also gang tackles and 1 on 1 tackle interactions are two different animals obviously. You also have to figure that defenses are beefing up to handle those insane power runners so he may never look like some that came before him due to defensive build adjustments.

DL is right... defenses are adjusting to combat those HB's.

damn only 69 broken tackles? Fritz has 101 and isn't even near 91 power running.

He has 60 conditioning and silver power running SA.

60 is on the low side for trying to break a ridiculous amount of tackles. Crank his conditioning up and you should begin to see defenders melting off of him a bit more.

This. My Journeyman RB is still in the low 80's, but has 95+ conditioning and breaks tackles left and right: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/227301

Size also matters though. 5'6 220 is not optimal unless he'll eventually be 90+ speed

Run better plays.

I think what's happening here is you're not running outside enough. In the real world, the smash mouth run game is going to be great. In this game, at least currently, outside running is king. Your running back is going to get higher or lower power running rolls based off of his conditioning. That's one piece of the puzzle that has been mentioned in this thread. Every time he's coming into contact with a defender, he's losing energy/conditioning. So if you're running plays up the middle or right off the tackle where there's multiple linemen/LBs/safeties that can get their hands on him, his energy/conditioning is going to deplete pretty quickly, and not last throughout the game. If you're running outside more, I would think there's less interactions with LBs that are going to have energy/morale sapping abilities, and you're dealing with a lot more safety/CB interaction instead. You're also limiting the damage that the line can do. You don't want the game to be 11 vs 1, you want to remove as many defenders as possible.

To show some data so I'm not just talking out my ass, I scouted your last 4 games. Your top three running plays (for running back) are:

SI HB Sweep Strong - 15.1 ypc
SB TRIP HB Pitch Weak - 10.6 ypc
BI HB Counter Sweep Left - 5.9 ypc

Those have been pretty consistently some of the best running plays for some time now. I think if you limited the amount of inside/off tackle/goal line running that you do now, and shifted towards a bit more outside running, you'd see more broken tackles due to less interactions and interactions will less energy-draining defenders.

So I'll get his conditioning up to 80 asap. He will max out at 99.

As for play calling, Drago will only play on GL plays. Main reason is because Cobra Commander is a blocking HB and needs to be in on regular formation for Skeletors running plays. I have a specific plan for personnel and play calling. I want to see how well GL power running does with a high conditiong, high power runner.

Goal line plays make sense, but if not going against a goal line defense, it could still struggle to make those big game breaking TD's

See × Hammered × S16-S19, even with 100/100 PR/Conditioning and the best run blocking Oline in the game it was still hit & miss.

I mean, I get that, but wouldn't it be infinitely more useful for you to run some plays keeping CC off the field that yield much higher YPC than it would be to force plays where he is in that are less effective?

The answer is yes. Look at your goal line formation runs throughout the whole season:

GL HB Blast: 34 times for 1.5 ypc (1.35)
GL HB Sting: 31 times for 1.8 ypc (1.71)
GL HB Off Tackle: 181 times for 5.4 ypc (5.16) ((not bad)
GL HB Off Tackle Weak: 93 times for 2.8 ypc (2.79)

The numbers in parenthesis are what the average run is out of that formation throughout the tier. Any decent DC is going to scout you, see that you run one successful GL play and 3 broken ones, and call a blitz for that gap. No matter how much you pound it in the formation with CC you're not going to reach your potential.

I have a FB on my roster but that doesn't stop me from running out of 4WR. In fact that can make or break some games. I would really recommend you run some more of the traditional outside plays. Once again, this is applying to less interactions = more energy throughout game = broken tackles.

I was gonna max power running first. He will get to 99 conditioning eventually.
