I know there's no way to prevent sandbaggers, but I really wish there was an actual rookie league where I could own and coach against other =NEW= owners/coaches.

It's considerably less fun to go into games where you know the other team has 17 star players and ten seasons of owning/coaching experience and you stand no chance of even scoring a single time, let alone being actually competitive.

Just putting it out there. Back to trying desperately to win games with zero star players on my team.

I hate it for you, but we all went through it... at least I did. I just consider it part of the hazing/learning experience.

PS. I like the avatar

It sucks for sure. But on the bright side those 17 superstars are meaningless in the rookie leagues. The coaching experience of course is huge. But the more you watch stuff and get the hang of it, it isn't so bad. The real bitch about being a new owner is creating players that may not be optimal when you hit journeyman/pro/vet.

Zero superstars isn't hurting you. You can win in rookie with CPUs.

Superstars don't really start to take over the game until mid seasoned when that gold SA hits. That is when their skill levels start to differentiate from the lesser players and gets bigger as the seasons go on.

Really only truly noticeable at HB, TE, Blitz LB, and Rushing QB (maybe WR3) though. The rest of the positions don't really take a toll until pro where you start to see a difference and of course vet where they produce a 3rd gold SA to your silvers.

Really the biggest advantage a lot of guys have is Stobie's Scout Tool, enough flex to build at will, and time.

With that tool you can build your entire team to the perfection you are looking for with virtual player and virtual roster. Then scout out most of the best teams for the plays they are using.

I've actually won quite a bit within my own league. It's when I'm forced to play ladder games that I keep getting demolished.

I feel like I'm getting the hang of it, though. I just think it would be useful for new owners to be able to coach in a less brutal environment to learn the game.

I think I'm learning how to use the scout tool a lot better, which is helping.

I disagree. The best way to learn is get your ass kicked. If you always win, you won't adjust and get destroyed at higher levels.

you're in a reset league, didn't you have a team last season? You're 37-36-2 as an owner, you wouldn't even qualify for your own suggestion.

Not any more. Doesn't mean I still don't wish I had a better go of learning the game.

Just because it wouldn't benefit me anymore is no reason not to suggest it.

Sorry, I see where I was confused by you wanting to play other new owners/coaches and making it sound like you were a new owner. Also lol at you for down voting my post, I was just pointing out that you said you wanted to play other new owners, while you are not a new owner, so you would have one up on new owners, making your own idea go against what you're complaining about, owners that have experience playing owners that don't. The only time when everyone had the same experience is when the very first game came out, sorry you missed that boat. Also rookie has two sets of rookie leagues, they keep the reset teams together, while trying to keep the new owners together, but nothing forces an experience owner to not sell his team back and by a new one in the same offseason.

Precisely what GE did so he could cherry pick an easy league. Well, he just bought a brand new team on a Multi.

Thing is, if there was a "true" rookie league, you would still play the entire tier in ladder, which means you'd be back in the same place you are now.

And, also no way to stop experienced coordinators from coaching in true rookie league, nor experienced agents from stacking rosters in true rookie leagues, nor, quite frankly, experienced owners from buying on a multi.

Just not even remotely worth the effort.
