....balance. Each day we should have a skill we talk about. It might help the newbs learn something. Feel free to talk about any position you want as long as it pertains to balance. So...let's talk balance.
I see several builds lacking in balance. Let's break it down. I will give you my take on a rough estimate of what each position should have
Offensive line:
55 for tackles due to not blocking high powerful defenders. Usually taking on a DE or LB.
70 for Guards and Centers: These guys take on DTs, the strongest players. I always notice my guards getting rev pancaked. I added balance and that helped.
Defensive Line:
70 for 1-Technique DT: These guys ankor the defense and the middle of the field. They are going against some tough cookies in the center and sometimes guard.
65 for 3-Technique DT: They need slightly less than the 1-tech but are still going against the guards
55 for DEs: They are usually going against tackles, who are slightly less powerful than interior O-Linemen.
Fast/Agile Running backs:
45 balance? Does balance help with cutting and movement? The balance wouldn't be for breaking blocks as they will go down when tackled due to 0 investment into power running
Power Running Backs:
30? 70? I don't know really. I would think high balance would help them stay on their feet but I have seen examples of power back mauling over guys and running for 80 yard TDs will little balance.
Pocket Passing QBs:
? I have no idea. Does balance help the QB throw the ball harder and more accurate?
CBs:
45 for Run Stuffers: Allows them to not get pancaked and helps in pass defense with turning
55 for Pass Defenders: Balance really helps with turning and not loosing speed
I'll stop for now. These discussions can get long.
