We're gonna have some fun with this league. Might be one of the only leagues where picking more than two games each week is hard to do. So Let's make this interesting, we're gonna have the first official Dachshund Pick-Em!

Rules

1. Each week of league season, you will, using this forum submit, your picks for each matchup NO LATER than 2:00 MST, when games are simulated.

2. For my own personal ease, please bold whichever team you choose to win. For instance, Kentucky vs. Kapitol. You may feel free to type up some thoughts to each game, or a mini blog like i did in the other post, but bolding the winners will help me quickly go over submissions if we are in a situation with lots of submissions.

3. DO NOT edit your posts with the game selections, under any circumstances.

4. Each game predicted correctly will net you one point. Whoever has the most points at the end of the season wins.

5. This contest will begin week 2 (to give everyone time for their first selections) and end week 14.

6. Picks must be in this thread. Feel free to use this or other threads for discussion, but to save me from having to search, only
picks submitted here will be considered.

The winner of this contest will be given their choice of a prize at the end of the season! Second place will receive the other!

A. 1200 flex points
B. One season of manager access to Glb2scout.com (manager tier access)

A couple qualifiers:

1. In order to qualify for the prize, the user must be associated with a Dachshund team, whether coach, owner, or player.

2. In order to qualify for the prize, the user must submit 5 posts of any kind other than the actual entries anywhere in
the Dachsund forums during the season. The whole purpose of this contest is to stimulate activity and interest, and I'd
rather not hand something out to someone that's not really contributing. 5 seemed like a fair number to aim for.

3. Presumably, be ready to send me your paypal email address if you win. I'm not sure of the easiest way to send someone 1200
flex, but I'm guessing it involves knowing one's email.

Let the games begin!

Week 1

New Jersey @ Southside

Generals look to get things back on track from last, but Southside already has their eyes set on the trophy.

LUELinks @ PAIN NATION

LUE is a nightmare against teams that aren't focused on stopping the run. MIDGETS haven't been able to stop a runny nose in two seasons.

Enterprise @ Deez

Two very equally ranked teams, I predict they'll split wins this season. Really the hardest one to pick, I also predict this will be the game of the week.

Jarvis Street @ Super Villains

I think GE has enough surprises up his sleeve to steal this one away, they played a real close matchup last time around.

Niagara @ LLUA

Gogetta has had nothing to do for a week other than sit and mope at home from surgery and needs to find something other to do than sit on GLB all day. But it pays off for game 1.

Kapitol @ Kentucky

Killers compete hard and play spoiler throughout the season, but I don't think they catch Myrik sleeping this game.

Think of this as a template, I forgot that I said moments earlier that this week doesn't count.

Week 2 Picks

New Jersey @ Pain Nation
I think this one is a tough matchup for Pain Nation. New Jersey is a run exclusive team, and Pain Nations defense is more situated to stop the pass than the run. New Jersey did a rather strong job against Southside, and I think they'll follow it up with another win.

LUElinks LUEshis @ Southside
I think Southside is going to take another one on the chin here. This one will be close, but I think LUElinks LB corps is going to do a number on Southside's offense, and unless Southside can re-shape their defense to handle the run a bit better than last week they may end up just barely losing this one.

Enterprise Seminoles @ Super Villains Strike Back
This will be a tough one to call. Enterprise seems to have shaken up their O a bit from last season, but GE's defense has the chance to force quite a few turnovers, and if they can win the turnover battle I think GE will take it.

Jarvis Street Coffee Squirrels @ Deez Nuts
Two balanced offenses going at it. It'll be very interesting to see Jarvis' S* OT's go up against Deez S* D-Linemen. We played twice last season, the first game ended in a tie, and the second in a Deez victory. Obviously I want to vote for my team, and I am... but there's always the chance for a wild start to the game, and with the summer heat however the first half starts is likely how the game will end.

Niagara Rapids @ Kentucky Mountaineers
Kentucky's defense is incredibly stout. Their defensive roster is well set up to shut down both rushing and passing offenses. I think Niagara is going to have trouble overcoming the Kentucky defense.

Kapitol Killers @ Little Lebowski Urban Achievers
Lebowski has the ability to go 100% rush, or 100% pass at any given point, and has a lot of speed at LB, and the conditioning to outrun most any team. This is a tough matchup for anyone and I think the Kapitol Killers are going to have a tough time getting around LLUA's LB corps.

Alright, week one of the contest is officially under way! Hope everyone has a pleasant two off-day GLB weekend with the non-existent ladder draws!

Week Two (But really one?)

PAIN NATION @ New Jersey

From my preseason analysis, New Jersey is now beginning to trend up. Huge win in the division week one that will absolutely be important later. Are we getting New Jersey sophomore instead of New Jersey seasoned? PAIN goes two weeks straight playing 100% rush teams, and I've no reason to believe that they'll flip the switch (defense was always going to be the problem this season.)

Southside @ LUElinks

Southside loses an upset last week, and as the 2nd best defense last year, allowed 565 total yards. Is this a sign of future things to come? Like PAIN, they play another 100% run team (good luck winning DPOTY in that division) this week. LUE, to no one's surprise, played true to their dominant self on both sides. So why pick the Rebels? Most telling stat (thanks Dredgar):

Southside yards per carry allowed (week 1)
against 3 wide - 14.9
against all other formations - 4.7

LUE run % out of 3 wide:
this season: 8%
season 16: 0%

Mysterio rarely shifts up offense/defense plays. So I don't see it happening here.

Super Villains @ Enterprise

My upset of the week. GE got it done last week, while Enterprise lost a very important game with the Nuts. I still consider this an upset pick, as I haven't seen convincing evidence to peg the Villains as the better team yet. They're going to play a similarly productive offense this week, and their defense pulled them through against the squirrels. Enterprise will need to lean on the rush to win, and I think this is a touch matchup for that.

Deez @ Jarvis

Deez took care of business in their first important game of the year, definitely outclassing the playoff-fringe Seminoles. 550 total yards of offense on a balanced approach. Jarvis did not, although I'm not ready to jump to any conclusions concerning their offense, as it was a tough defense to match up with. Still would like to see something from them first before picking them against a team that has.

Kentucky @ Niagara

Overlooked last week in their game was Niagara did a pretty solid job in the passing game. Facing a 90% blitz, they struggled mightily in the first half, but put up a good showing in the second. Quite a few of the sacks against them were in garbage time, and in the third and fourth quarters, they kept the ball moving. However, they're facing a much less risky, overall better defense in Kentucky this week. Not normally identified by their offensive prowess, Kentucky put up over 500 yards against a very solid Killers team. I see Kentucky losing 1 division game this season, and this is not it.

Little Lebowski @ Kapitol

I've still got my little man crush an Kapitol being a team that surprises everyone a few teams this year. They're like Dayton (2014) or Wichita State (2013). They're the low seed, cinderella story. I love these guys. But as state in the previous paragraph, they allowed Kentucky 500 yards, and LLUA may not be Kentucky defense, but well, you've all seen the offense.

PAIN NATION @ New Jersey

Doesn't matter how many points Pain scores, because they can't stop a "running" nose.

Southside @ LUElinks

Dredgar is too good of a D Coordinator to get tourched 2 weeks in a row, especially when he knows what is coming.

Super Villains @ Enterprise

You have to ask? ( )

Deez @ Jarvis

Interesting matchup. I am rooting for Jarvis so I can get sole possession of 1st place with a win, but Deez Nuts are pretty good.

Kentucky @ Niagara

Kentucky is a damn good team. They are one of the few teams that has success against my defense.

Little Lebowski @ Kapitol

This is gonna be a massacre.

NJ Generals over Pain Nation.
Generals look strong and PNM has some chemistry issues.
Southside over LUE Lue.
Could go either way, but I think Dredgar gets his defense back in shape this week.
Enterprise over Super Villains.
Another that could go either way.
Deez over Jarvis.
I think Jarvis gets stronger as the season goes on, but prob not yet this week.
Kentucky over Niagara
Cant bet against me.
Lebowski over Killers.
Lebowski is the team to beat for our tier, IMO.

Would be funny if you were the only one that was right!
