How can I stop this? This was only one example. Not sour grapes at all.. Looking for legitimate tactics/plays.

I don't think the problem is coaching. It looks more like the effectiveness in the team builds to stop that particular type of player (power back). There were five missed tackles on that play I believe. He would have gone for a 0/2/7/20/21 yard gain otherwise. The play call itself looks good.

It's builds.

You had two players engage the HB at the edge behind the LOS. Yet neither made the tackle.

Look at their energy and morale levels when trying to tackle - practically nil.

Can you show some evidence of Tackle Grip or Tech helping against power backs? If not, it would probably be best to make it clear that your OPINION is Grip and Tech rather than giving your advice like its fact.

Everybody's advice is opinion. Anyway...you will see in Vet when SVSB will shut down any power back that comes into my territory!

To commit to that, I assume my guys would suffer in coverage? There probably is a sweet spot, a happy medium? Although I think I'd rather lose in the air than to relive my days of Tecmo Bowl and Bo Jackson running crazy all over me.. Maybe that is why it's so aggravating.. I need therapy.

Likely the best approach is have run stopping players at key spots, along with some strong pass defenders that are ok vs the run.

Id guess be ing no D mastermind myself a run stuffing CB or 2 and at least one super good run stopping LB would go a long ways.

That is why you need specialists on your team. Run stoppers and coverage guys.

As others have said, a lot of this would be helped with builds. You have coverage leaning builds against a pure run team.

The FS that was in place to make a great play, only has 50 tackling tech, 32 power tackling, and 25 grip. A serious power back would (and did) wreck that.

The second defender in to tackle him (who was in a spot to make a good play), has better tackling skills, but the build as a whole is leaning towards coverage. 71 tackling tech, 44 power, and 44 grip is solid in general, but not against a pure run team.

I don't know what your other linebackers are like, but if they can bring a bit more "lumber" against the run, it'll help out in terms of gang tackling. You'd want to shuffle the depth chart to accommodate the opponent.

It's not like these builds are awful, they're just against the wrong opponent. Although if some of them can respec certain skills lower to move SP elsewhere, they should.

Don't listen to this guy...unless you need advice on promoting your team.

We were always going to struggle against AK and you musn't be so hard on yourself, mate! Having that brute bearing down on you you all day (C'MON DAWG) is what they're built to do and they are shit-hot at it. We're a rag-tag army and we simply don't have the resourses to stop a team like this.

All the above is correct.

Now magnify the problem due to the non-existent energy and low morale at the time they tried to make the tackle. All of these stated skill levels were adjusted down by the lack of energy and morale.

So their effective skill level wasn't even close to the skill values on their player page.

Got it.. Thanks guys. I have never looked at those things as close as this. It will really help going forward and future builds! Thanks again!
