I was looking at maybe doing a team with no FB and just adding another HB. Any thoughts on this? What are the positives and negatives?

I forget which position will fill for FB by default. TE I believe. Pretty sure a TE would just get reps there while you are in formations that use FBs. Downside would be losing energy and maybe morale at the FB position combined with the TE position. The potential negative effects would depend on your TEs conditioning levels and how often you intend to run formations that would force them to play FB. They would also get a small out of position penalty to their skills which probably does not mean too much at FB depending on what your plans are.

How about dropping a HB and using a FB in place? So running 1 *S HB and 1 FB.

This is all an attempt to save salarie cap for more *S.

1 HB S*
1 FB Rushing/Return
1 FB Blocking

That can also be done but the FB playing HB will take a out of position penalty on skills which can be overcome and you will want to ensure that the FB takes SAs that a HB can have as those will be the only SAs that can fire while playing from the HB position.

Didn't think about that with the SAs. What is the out of position penalty? I did the scout player calculator and the HB and FB with the same traits manage the same point cost and restrictions.

Don't remember the OOP completely. I believe that it start d as a 5% penalty but may have been increased to an unknown amount. I have played some guys OOP over the seasons and have not noticed a huge difference but it may also be due to the positions that I have done that with. Haven't tried it at HB. Should be fine though. I would just make sure that your lone HB has a fair amount of conditioning to handle majority of the rushing attempts. Probably looking for 70+ to limit the rushing FBs snaps at HB.

Looking at their traits the FB has all the HB does plus some. I'm starting to wonder if you could use a FB at many positions like TE HB FB. that would save a considerate amount of money. And if using S* one player can have a S* QB and S* FB (With HB traits).

ok so it is a percentage penalty... I'm going to check out the positions in the depth chart real quick to see if the HB can be in one spot and with the other two defaults if they both accept FB without penalty. I was looking at using only 2 HB's and not using formations that require a FB like Spread offense.

I think Running 1 HB and 2 FB would work out perfect. The depth chart puts the position behind the QB as FB and the position behind that is the HB, however, the position right next to the FB is the WFB.

Remember that those are ALL positions that you could use. Not necessarily will use though. Diamond formation is the only current formation that utilizes the wfb. You may never run plays out of the diamond formation and may never tap in to the WFB depth chart.

You can't add a FB to the HB depth chart. The general rule is that players can play down tiers but not up (with exceptions). Be sure to check depth chart options when planning.

My rookie team has no FB, I made three TE's one plays as the FB, the running game does the same regardless.
