The more I play this game the more I remember why I stopped playing GLB back in the day. I have to give credit to Enterprise for building a great running team but today was bullshit. That defense we had in there was literally set up to stop that exact team and exact play calling. All defenders with high break run block, pursuit, tackle tech, etc and we give up outside runs all day.

Either I don't know how to build a player (quite possible) or this game has a serious bullshit factor.

*Puts on post-game commentator hat on*

Enterprise's defense is really dominant when it gets going. They shut us out last season, and it wasn't even a game. I think the Brawlers went deep a bit too much honestly(where half their drops came), and Enterprise's defense was setup nicely to stop the pass, which led to a ton of "inability to secure the ball" on medium passes. Was a bit surprised Rudy didn't get 20+ carries. Offensively, Enterprise really had one guy go off with some big runs, and controlled the time of possession.

Should be a great competition.

Your team would be really scary if it filled out that roster.

*initial frustration subsided*

I think the problem we're seeing this season is that we're going up against people who clearly have a better understanding of how to min/max the game than we do. By that I mean, you've had a lot more time to find the shit that's broken and exploit the hell out of it. The fact that a QB can run for 1000 yards against equal level competition (even if it is CPU) is something that shouldn't happen in a game.

This game is clearly broken and unless you know the parts to exploit you're at a disadvantage.

It's all about CPU builds really, though tweeking the 3WR set playbook for CPU teams would also be nice.. The CPU challenge teams showed that even with great coaching, CPU builds fall behind way too much, and their skillsets simply become huge liabilities on a team. GLB really needs to have better skill progressions, because quite a few teams could use decent CPU pickups to fill rosters.

It's not about builds, it's about a CPU team lining up in man coverage against trips. That's how a QB gets 1000 yards in a game. You line up man to man against me and if I put singleback trips and QB rollout, I could get 500 yards with a O-lineman.

There are certain mechanics that are just plain broken. Today we saw another one. Today we played a team that we played twice last season and went 1- with both gamed being decided by a FG. We lost 4 games last season and not one by double digits. Today we got smoked and it was shit like this:

I'm in a play to stop that exact run play. It's not like I didn't think he would do this. It's what he does. He runs the ball. Sharp is a fast HB, no doubt. 5.06 speed is damned fast 3 games into sophomore. I'm sure the WR's have some run blocking too. But that CB was built to stop that play. He's got high break run block, pursuit, tackle technique, etc. He's built like a run stopping LB and yet he tangos with that WR for 5 seconds. That long of a block in any football game would be flagged all day long. Oh and that SS that runs up to join the dance and runs face first into the pulling guard, also is a run stopping SS. Every player on my defense today has over 40 break run block.

Not sure what else I can do there.

I see two pancakes on the right side of the line that helped break that play open, along with a great pull by the guard. And while run block is the most important skill in that situation, I've found that things like footwork matter also.

Should also note you have a 184 lb CB going against a 235 lb blocking WR on the edge. When I had big blocking WRs, they were pancaking CBs at a 5 to 1 rate on the Sophomore level. GLB2 factors in size I believe. One of the pancakes had a 250 lb TE going against another 184 lb CB lb too.

Here's a Sophomore game from 2 years ago between me and Enterprise. Notice how my old blocking WRs did(two had 7 pancakes). I really liked them...but they couldn't catch a cold lol, and it was just too easy for opposing defenses to gameplan us. http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/game/227598

I've found that run-stopping LBs, and big defensive formations work well against that type of play. Using Dime 3-2-6 means you have 4 CBs out there, and doesn't match up well against a power running team. Probably would do nicely against a balanced running team, but when facing a big offensive set, you need to match their size a bit.

As I was watching I think this turnover inside the 5 was a big turning point. not only did we stop them from scoring but what occurred after that pretty much summed up the game. We would go on a 97 yard TD drive to go up 3 scores. ANd I would say we pounded the middle about 60% of the drive. And we had a crucial pancake on the ROLB that allowed the Pulling G get the next the defender that sprung the HB for the TD.

But all that said, I didnt expect the outcome that occurred. I was expecting another close match up. Needless to say, I was happy with the results. Until we meet again.
