Anyone care to explain how balance plays into the make tackle or break tackle rolls? Theoretically, I could see how it could play into Power Tackling and Power Running, the roll to determine if a rusher stays on his feet while carrying a tackler (anti-Tackle Grip?), etc.

Hypothetically, let's say I had a DT with 100 Hold Ground, 50 Power Pass Rush, and 80 Power Tackling. Since the dot would invariably win pretty much every push roll, does anyone have any an idea how much Balance would be recommended in order to make the most of the Power Tackling? Part of me would almost interpret Balance as some sort of combination like (bare with me, I know Tackle Tech would play a part, too):

(Balance Roll) - (Power Tackle Roll - Power Running Roll) = Odds of not getting knocked on butt.

Is this remotely in the right direction here?

On a related note, have any high push roll DTs gotten away with less than 70 Balance and still managed a low missed tackle rate (10-15%)?

IE: Pass Rush Power/Hold Ground. In other words, the DT would be knocking the center or guard off balance and pushing him into the pocket.

I guess what I'm really asking is how critical balance is for bringing down those power backs that have 85-100 Power Running if the push roll is sort of a non-issue.

It's tough to say really, there are many factors in the tackle breaking roll and it's tough to determine what factors are the strongest.

Power Running + momentum vs Tackling Tech + Power Tackling + Tackling Grip + momentum

To me these 5 are the most importants factors, I believe Balance plays a role in both part (bigger role for the ball carrier imo) but to estimate how much of an effect it has isn't easy.

Really solid, honest answer. You always give constructive comments, and I really appreciate your input, Lokiness.

If anyone else has any experience specifically with this variable and the tackle roll, I'd love additional feedback.

I haven't found balance to be very important for the tackler. Most of my best tacklers have 30 or fewer balance, while some of my higher balance dlinemen miss more. Tackle tech+pursuit for elusive, tackle tech+power+some grip for power backs is the majority of the rolls imo.

For the ballcarrier it is more important, though I think a lot of people overestimate its affect. Power/Elusive running are much more important. High balance can cause whiffs by DBs with almost no tackling tech in my experience though.

10%-15% isn't that out of normal on DT's if you calculate all the assist in as tackles

edit: and regarding the other thing i'm in same mind as mysterio

Have any replays you might be willing to share?

Guys when you say "roll" you mean? Is that a comparison of attributes and the best combo wins?

The "roll" takes into account both players attributes and determines the outcome of an interaction like tackling, blocking, receiving, ect. Not necesarilly a "best combo wins" type thing because it is all based on probability
