New season, new thread.
Any guesses as to a Top 5 next season?
I'm going with the following:
1) Bronx Bombers - to repeat. Have a few roster changes but should hopefully be improvements.
2) Central Falcons - Limited to no roster changes, finished 5th last season - they have potential to move up
3) DD - Picked up arguably the best blitzer at his level - otherwise, minimal changes. Really was flipping between the top 3 here - I think they are clearly the best teams.
4) LogZilla - Xars is Xars. Consistently Top 5 in ladder. The most cohesively built unit in the game, that's for sure.
5) Hawaii Bulls - Of all the new Vet teams, I think they have the best chance of making a splash in the top 5... although, to be honest, I think we'll see a lot of the older Vet teams be more successful this season.
Exclusions:
Erkner Razorbacks - If Duro was active I'd probably slot them in at 3 or 4... it doesn't look good that they haven't signed any of their D though (except the S* SS. If Duro doesn't come back I don't think this team is competitive defensively.
Blood, Sweat & Beers - The team hit a rut this season - missed out on a league trophy for the first time, and barely scraped a ladder trophy at #5. I think they're a good team - but the plethora of agents building players on this team makes it hard for them to be successful as builds become more and more important (seriously - something needs to be done about the advantage of one- or two-agent teams).
Djibouti Assassins - If Tachylon was around another season I'd slot them in at 2 or 3 I think. Given that they will have to replace one of the best HBs in the game, and face the chem hit again, I'm going to slot them just outside the top 5.
Whoville Whos - Replacing way too many players this season.
MEM - They have the tools to be a top 5 time - but I'm not sure if they have the motivation. bueno essentially said on the J-Man thread that he's more or less quit the game. He wasn't coordinating before, but obviously is a big piece of the puzzle for this team.
Freakville - Until about two weeks ago you could argue this was the best team in the tier moving up. A couple of puzzling losses against Missingno though makes me hesitant to predict a Top 5 here.
