Since someone else did a Shifty thread...outside of Speedster, the third way to go with a WR seems to be Slot Receiver (I can't see Dominator unless one's making a blocking WR for an all-run team).

It seems clear that a Slot Receiver build can be made to catch anything, especially in traffic. But, how can one get open enough to be targeted much at all with that type of build?

I was just getting ready to post something like this. Glad someone beat me to the punch this time!

If I was to guess, it'd probably be through a combination of a decent Route Technique and a focus on Rec Consistency (for the big bonuses from Slot Machine).

I'd say use Egoist to boost Sprinting and Quickness combined with solid Route Tech. But the main reason to use Slot Receiver is to boost In Traffic.

There's been such an increase in PDs lately I'm beginning to wonder about the value of high levels of In Traffic. I think it's still good for TEs, but most cover CBs have Deflection up high enough to win the battle.

IMO Egotist is terrible. For everything.

I tend to dislike the Egotist trait, too. The loss of Conditioning, Heart, and Toughness is so big, and truly significant, that I doubt I'll ever use the trait.

I almost said in my post about getting open with the Slot Receiver trait (rather than Speedster or Shifty), "without using Egotist."

Dominator is a great SA for an all around, blocking/power WR like Megatron:

He can power block and power run and catch.

Unless you have a player that sees the field on a limited number of snaps and doesn't need a ton of stamina or toughness.

Which is nobody, except punters and kickers, but they don't need physicals.

Also that salary.

Depends on the build. For some builds, the savings in SP are HUGE. I've played around on GLB2Scout quite a bit, and this is especially untrue for S* builds with a heavy emphasis on physical traits.

Unless they're lining up against the SS or OLBs, most WRs don't need that very high of toughness.

Classic newb trap.

When Workhorse is maybe the most popular trait in the game, a massive hit to conditioning isn't an easy pill to swallow.

You could probably get away with it on niche builds.

Starscream, my slot WR, plays only in 3/4 WR sets.

http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/175248

He has Early Bloomer, Ego and 1 Stamina.

He is going to be terrible with max 40 conditioning.

Not if he only plays in 50% of my offensive plays. He actually ends the game with more energy than most players on my team.

I disagree. The real answer is: It depends.

If you are going for huge investment into Physicals, then it's clearly a consideration. Combining it with Workhorse is usually how the Conditioning hit is offset.

That's why Stobie's site is so great. You can build a player with Egotist and without it. Depending on the Physicals, it can really help with the SP savings.
