I haven't played GLB since s22 og GLB and need some help here...

I am trying to build a receiving TE: http://glb2.warriorgeneral.com/game/player/179845

Did I do it all wrong from the beginning? If not, any guidance on what to do next would be great I have saved my boosts until I have some level of confidence that the player is worth hanging on to.

Also, is there any chance of getting a spot at a human owned team your first season?

It's a free player, so you also get the to boost him for free as well. Might as well boost him right?

His Receiving Hands cap is a little low, but you can put some cap boosters into (they increase the cap by 5) and it would be more respectable.

I don't like the Catch in Stride SA on TE's as you likely will be used more for quicker passes (TE Post from 3WR) with a defender on him quickly enough for no YAC chances. For Rookie, you're doing what you should be right now. I'd still increase Sprinting/Conditioning a bit, but focusing on Hands/CiT is what I'd do.

As for potential end build, I can't really respond. I was never truly pleased with my pair of Veteran TE's that I had. My best advice is to peruse this forum, PM some of the agents, and ask them what they want out of a TE.

You can always retire a free player and recreate him, you don't lose your free player slot by retiring him.
