I understand in advance the amount of crap talking and instant hate messages this may bring in but just some food for thought.

Are we as agents, ruining this game?

Football is a game of sportsmanship, rivalry and fun. When players use PED's they are ridiculed across the board for attempting to exploit the system or some may say cheat. So this may make you think, what is he getting at?

How many teams out there have the same 5 agents coordinating the teams or at least on the coaching roster? I know i used to do it and if someone asks you to join the ranks of helping them coach it can sometimes be tough to say no. Now of those 5 agents coaching on this team how many of them own a different team with those same 5 agents coaching?

With the current setup where we all join each others teams we are never going to get that real hard core rivalry that really gets teams fired up to play throughout an entire season. How are we going to do this if the same group of the best agents are on the same teams? It stings a lot less if you were on the staff of the winning team. Then you have the agents who say, well i dont actually participate on that team. Well, why are you on it then? Maybe we as agents need to use our self discipline to build the rivalries up from scratch and get some competitive juices flowing again.

We have to understand that when it comes to coding and programming there may actually be some limitations in the game as well. Cdog does what he can to fix many of the things we as users find wrong but he is still fighting an uphill battle. We as agents have found ways to take advantage of any broken aspect of this game and by doing so we as agents have ruined this game. We make it impossible for the new players to even have a chance, and if you are new and get destroyed why would you keep playing? Everybody gets so concerned with winning at any cost you destroy any integerity or sportsmanship the game is supposed to have. i can tell you this, for Bort, Cdog, and the rest this is a business, unfortunately if you arent growing the business then you are relying solely on your current clientel to carry you. As we've seen this season we've lost a couple of the most popular agents and we cant allow that to happen. Bort has actually made some really good changes the last couple of seasons which is great for all of us to see and shows they care about the game. Now the question is do we?

We are responsible for helping this game grow and I'm not talking about the word of mouth advertising only that was mentioned in another forum. We all should really consider just breaking down and try to play the game with some integrity and enjoy the game as a football sim not if i can exploit the game more than the other guy. Whereas these broken plays and such can be controlled to an extent the new guys wont know how and will get completely destroyed. It would have to be a community effort though as if the majority of people do it and a handful dont its not going to work.

Also perhaps there is a way corndog or bort can program a weekly announcement of new members so we as a community can reach out and help them out. It will get them good people to learn from and help guide them through the game. That is all. Happy 4th!

Imaging how hard it would be to find coordinators and Players if the same 5 people didn't help so many teams

I think last years addition of the play diversity bonus was a step in the right direction. I had hoped they would intensify that bonus this season so we could start seeing teams that exploit the same 6 plays every game take a step back, there is no reason to reward that kind of laziness. You teams know who you are and no doubt those teams would be in here crying that they worked hard putting together that 6 play book they never change, but there needs to be more incentive to the players who are game planning day in and day out not just the guys that figured out these few plays exploit the system and win the majority of games.

it would encourage other players to learn how to do it. it wouldnt be as frustrating if teams werent using the same 5 plays over and over that are "broken"

I agree, Im an advocate for the new player as much as I can, and will offer any assistance where I can. Sure I coordinate too many teams, but like you said its hard to say no at times, and theres not many new players stepping up to fill those voids. But I also have tried helping mentor some of these players and help them become coordinators as well, so its a balancing act i suppose. Those players that ask for help or advise from me never get ignored though and that seems the best I can do personally.

I think if we can get a list as they sign up (maybe a forum that autopopulates when someone signs up or comes back from inactivity) we can reach out to them before they just quit on us.

I stepped away from the game for a little while due to some medical issues. I was just awarded a team a couple of days ago. Seems like unless you know a bunch of people in the game that you can't get people to create toons for you. I slightly remember this being an issue before too. Just thought I would chime in.

and thanks vipermaw82 for agreeing to a few players to help me out!

Thats the 1 deficiency for me I dont have a huge budget for creating new dots and up-keeping them sufficiently with boosts. Building an agent pool to recruit from is important no doubt.

I wish I could, but I made 1 rookie dot this season with my free player spot and am just trying to balance boosts on the rest of my dots now. Maybe the admins should reward returning players with 1 free dot per season to a maximum of 1 per tier to help populate the game.

Probably went back to building books to exploit his handful of plays after giving you that thumbs down.

I enjoy the social aspect of the game and working with other agents to achieve success. Some agents like to go solo and others like to work with a certain group of friends that they can trust to build good players.

The biggest issue is the lack of good agents. If there were more good agents there would be more networks of agents. As it stands now, many of the successful agents are guys that have been around for a long time. I have reached out to many new players over the seasons to try to give them tips and offer strategic advice, but very few of them go on to be super successful like FairForever, Detroit Leos and Absolute Zero.

My network of friends has changed throughout the seasons due to so many guys quitting over the past 5 seasons. If I only worked by myself or only with a couple of other people I would probably get bored.
