Lol bars (in my opinion) are impacted by (duh) the skills associated with that aspect of the game. Roster plays a huge role though - want to boost your D lolbar...simply add a DT or LB. Likewise with a passing defense - I expect an 8 CB team would have a really high passing lolbar.
So - given that lolbars are lol-ly - It did occur to me that I haven't often seen a high pass defense lolbar....why is that??
Team / passd+rund / passd / rund lolbars
Stunners: 175 / 73 / 102
Air Raid: 136 / 69 / 67
Harrisonburg: 145 / 71 / 74
Salty: 183 / 78 / 105 (might be 106 I can't tell)
MMA: 164 / 76 / 88
Stark: 163 / 73 / 90
Ronin: 156 / 70 / 86
Queen City: 159 / 71 / 88
Rhode Island: 139 / 65 / 74
DD 2.0: 167 / 73 / 94
Virgins: 151 / 72 / 79
Portland Storm: 154 / 70 / 84
Dookie Island: 148 / 66 / 82
Legacy: 162 / 71 / 91
Alaska: 161 / 79 / 82
Run GLB: 158 / 71 / 87
So - according to lolbars:
Top Defenses in the game based on pure builds/roster/lolbar:
Salty: 183
Minn: 175
DD2.0: 167
MMA: 164
Stark: 163
Legacy: 162
Alaska: 161
Queen City: 159
Run GLB: 158
Jebs: 158
Top Pass Defenses (same criteria):
Alaska: 79
Salty: 78
MMA: 76
Stark: 73
DD2.0: 73
Minn: 73
Virgins: 72
Top Run Defenses (same criteria):
Salty: 105
Minn: 102
DD2.0: 94
Legacy: 91
Stark: 90
MMA: 88
QC: 88
Jebs: 88
Run GLB: 87
So - my observations:
The run lolbars seem to be fairly accurate in terms of identifying good run defenses (teams who tackle and avoid pancakes).
The overall seems to be fairly accurate in terms of identifying good defenses.
But with passing (no - this is not a 'nerf passing' post):
The highest pass defense rating in top tier teams is Alaska at 79 (while Salty is at 105 for run). Lolbars are lolbars -- but Bort programmed the lolbars to represent those skills that are important for doing those things. Ultimately - it makes me wonder:
Is there some rudimentary build issue that all of the top teams have with pass defense - Are we missing something?
Are the lolbars equally valuing man and zone awareness resulting in inability to get pass D lolbars up in the 90+ range?
So - given that lolbars are lol-ly - It did occur to me that I haven't often seen a high pass defense lolbar....why is that??
