A couple I think could help out the D are
There's more and more teams running 2-4-5 d in the NFL. Keeps.your rush olbs on the field but should still be strong against the run as you still have 2 DTs. I think it would be more effective than the 3-3-5 at plugging the middle while still having bodies to stop outside runs.
Another is the heavy nickel. Instead of an extra CB coming on to replace a LB it's a 3rd S instead. Would help against balanced teams imo.
Would add some options to DCs. I think both formations could help a little with the run heavy unbalance. Both are strong run stopping nickel formations that let the D be more flexible.
