Looking at some stats across all leagues the offense recovers fumbles currently at nearly a 3-1 advantage over the defense.

Stats from 5 leagues from rookie to veteran -

fumbles 140
fumbles lost 50

One league had an 18-8 line which was the closest to being even, all the rest were in the 30-10 neighborhood.

Not sure what is factoring into the offense making the recovery at such a higher rate but the rolls are definitely skewed in their favor.

Give me some of that fumble recovery magic. I think my team had 51 fumbles last season, we only recovered 18 of them.

How many of them are qbs and punters fumbling especially in rookie. We had 5 fumbles in our last game and 3 were just snapfumbles

Fumbles 140
O recovers 90
D recovers 50

I think it varies a great deal though with plenty of RNG.

Last season one of our HB's fumbled 25 times - and 14 of those were lost = defense got 56%
Another fumbled 12 times and 6 of those were lost = defense got 50%

another had a great RNG season I guess - 22 fumbles and only 5 lost so D only got 23% of his -- he is slower though so I think more offense players trailing the run and there to scoop up.

Yeah...look at higher tier stats.

Well here's the fumbles / fumbles lost stats from the 4 veteran leagues for week 1 -

Tiger 41 / 16
Monroe 29 / 13
Hydrogen 36 / 15
Helium 26 / 12

That's a 132 / 56 split in favor of the offense.

you're not mathing right.
the split for those numbers is:

offense recovered 76 which is 57.5%
defense recovered 56 which is 42.4%

That is a better way to look at it, but the numbers still show a substantial advantage for the offense.

Relatively close to NFL stat %'s which is highly unusual for GLB. Can easily fall a few % points when more than 1 week of games is included in the data.

Plenty in this game to complain about -- but I don't think this is one.

I'm guessing you're really unhappy about Providence recovering 3 of their own fumbles in the last winnipeg game and this is just a rage post. but it looks like in that game there were 6 fumbles. You recovered 3 and he recovered 3. You fumbled twice and recovered both -- he fumbled 4 and recovered 3.

Well gee, you really blew my cover there didn't you? I was so pissed that we won our game that I spent hours pouring over numbers to try and come up with a rage post. Or maybe it was just an observation, one that the numbers prove out according to even yourself. You can say you don't think a 57% to 42% advantage is important enough to worry about - I happen to agree that there are more important issues in the game. But spare me the ad hominem attacks.

Well it would be like me saying to TxSteve - 'I'm guessing that you don't think it's a big deal because your Stunners only run the ball so the offense recovering their own fumbles is a plus for you'. But I didn't say that.

If all stats posted in this thread are correct it looks like that :

Offense recovery rate in the NFL from 2010 to 2014 : 53,44%
Offense recovery rate in the veterans leagues during the first game : 57,50%

To me it's close enough to be honest, I think there is higher priorities.
